Drivetrain Manutal Transmission Fluid
Manual Transmission Fluid
I was looking at the sticker on my transmission and it has MTF-94 listed on it but I thought all the new transmissions were labeled MTF-LT-4? Any body have any insight into this, it is a 2008 Clubman S with factory LSD.
The reason I was looking is I want to change the fluid as I have 55k miles and don't believe any fluid is lifetime.

That is what I was thinking, even looked it up in my Bentley manual and they don't mention anything but the LT-4.
Yeah, I'm trying to recall if the 2008 Clubman S with LSD has a mechanical or electronic type LSD,
and searching for the definitive answer hasn't been easy, but the sticker on the transmission is
almost always correct, So I'm sticking to the MTF-94 answer (or Redline MTL, if you prefer).
The dealer should be able to confirm if you give them the VIN, as buzzsaw stated.
If you put MTF-94 in a Getrag 6-speed that calls for LT-4, you get a little stiffer shifting in cold weather
and a little less gas mileage (about 1-2 mpg tops) but even better wear protection to the transmission.
If you put LT-4 in a Getrag with mechanical LSD designed for MTF-94, the LSD slips too much and doesn't work very well.
