Wastegate actuator

I think mine is messed up. I am have looked at the other threads regarding the wastegatge and they really aren't helping that much. I have a stage 3 Alta AP tune and it is not hold boost. I was under the hood this morning emptying out my Catch can and decided to look around. I wanted to see if there was anything loose and I found the actuator was pretty loose. I looked through my Bentley manual and on realoem.com to see there was a replacement and it doesn't look that way. Does anyone know if it is replaceable or doe you have to replace the vacuum part with it or is this a full turbo replacement situation.

Mine was loose from the factory and had zero issues.I would look at the hot and coldside pipes to see if there is a leak or loose connection and check the maf to make sure it is plugged in,if maf is not plugged in or is fubared you will not build boost. The only other time I had a issue was when my hpfp went out.If it is the hpfp install new plugs when you get the new fuelpump installed.

It has a new HFPF in it. It generates boost but, is not holding it. Like while at the Dragon I would start heading up hill it would generate boost then blow off generat boost and hold it about half of what it should be. I will check the hoses and the MAF to see how they are.

Sounds like the charge hoses.Check all the hoses, mine leaked at the turbo intake muffler delete pipe(would build but not hold boost) and on the coldside going to throttlebody(would not boost at all).

Hmm so the waste actuator is suppose to be loose. I thought it was suppose to have a little play but not be loose like a Thai hooker.

No replacement part on realoem. It looks like it is attached to the vacuum actuator and it does look like it is a replaceable piece.

Have you not checked the DV?

Very likely culprit

You are running the AB stage 3, are you sure its not hitting boost cut? After 20psi on some cars it will kick in whenever it wants.

What part are you actually talking about? Pics or diagrams?

What codes have you got from the ecu? The car will leak boost for quite a while before it throws the 2885 boost pressure deviation code.

As others have said I would check the diverter valve first.

The thing is that it happens even before hitting that high now. It used to do it only going up hill or when it hit 20psi. Now it just won't hold it.

Diverter valve is brand newish. I got WMW's diverter valve about a year and a half ago.

Year and a half ago... while thats fairly "new", having increased boost could have easily ripped the diaphragm within the DV at either 1 day old or 500days old... a ripped diaphragm will not allow you to build boost as it is constantly bleeding off.

Or... check your pressure converter...

#2... the valve inside can get dirty and clogged and cause it to stay open/closed, which actuates the wastegate as you build boost.
