Quote from dgsvweda:
"The exhaust ports are a weak spot on this car. The exhaust ports are on the head. This can't be fixed by a header alone. The header doesn't do any good making it larger if the ports on the head are still small."

I have heard this a few times now. Who is working on this? And when this is done to your car will it allow an aftermarket exhaust to really shine??

I have 15% pulley and Intake, and I am wondering what I should do next engine wise. I really want an exhaust, and one that adds power but 600-900 bucks is quite steep, especially if the car's exhaust ports are bottlenecked. I have said many times before that I am after efficiency.

I know several are working on this, myself, Randy, Madness, Pilo, i think there is a couple more, YES it is a big restriction, and yes it will allow headers and/or exhaust to come"alive". This is and expenisve thing to fix, its labor extensive. As well it is not just the ports its also the exhaust valve, as these are enlarged the benifits of the aftermarket exhaust/header will increase, and i predict that once some testing with aftermarket exhaust as well as headers, the diffrence between the units will grow, what is now 1-2hp (typ) diffrence between will become more like a 6-7(im guessing)hp as well they may actually shuffle, some of the lesser exhaust "may" become better performers than the current best performers, testing will need to be done, the dynamics involve just simply change, BUT it is in the works and these things will be tested i am sure....

Well,

We just finished the dyno testing of our cylinder head. (the results will be posted in another post.) The car definalty needs that exhaust port opened up. It flows SO MUCH better now. I still get great gas milage too. I made 34 mpg on the way home from philly to NJ (140 Miles) We nade some good power also. (and there is still some more power in there with more work (larger ports and stuff which we are already working on)

so when you say you finished dyno testing does that mean you are done? Or are you still testing? So all of these people are working on the exhausts ports as well? Or just the head? The new Madness Head, does that do anything for the exhaust ports? Or is that what they mean when they said "port and polish". I don't know much about cars but im learning. Thanks for your response. This is something I am very interested in because I believe it will really help flow and make everything run smoother.

The Head is done, and available in several different flavors. We are happy with the results that we got on this project. We can either use one of our Stock Cylinder Heads to get built up, and you would provide us your core after installing, Or you can provide us a cylinder head and wel will get that upgraded.
