revision 1.4.3.1

Just finished reworking my BSH OCC install after reverting to the stock air box with the JCW top and filter, long story, short, too many confusing ideas out there about the best CAI, and it seemed the best way to go right now was to return to an enclosed air box, modified of course.
Also ordered the replacement filter for the box from MINI -Madness.

You'll have an easier time of it one of two ways:
1. From under the car
2. By pulling your CAI and maybe the CAI to Turbo Pipe, i.e. the cold side pipe.

If you decide to go at it from underneath, place a light up top, if you do not have a helper available, to light the way, just be careful it does not end up blinding you.

You can install a BSH Dual Boost tap.

http://www.bshspeedshop.com/bshstore...Boost-Tap.html

You can use it for a boost/vacuum gage signal source and a place to deliver Sea Foam to the intake ports.

Dang, well I can just tell you its really easy....Just get a can of sea foam put 1/3 in the oil 1/3 in the gas tank and 1/3 in the PCV line....it unhooks from the top left side of the valve cover and you just pour it down there....if your PCV pipe is removed just reinstall it from the bottom where the PCV hooks into the intake manifold and pour it down the hose. Let it sit in there for about 5 mins or so then turn the car on and rev the crap out of it until theres no more white smoke coming from the exhaust pipes and then drive it around for about 15 mins or so just to run the sea foam through the oil and gasoline. hope that helps....any questions you know where to find me.

Alright, lets see here. Just ordered the BSH OCC, cant wait. Can someone tell me if removing the PVC valve is necessary? If removing the PVC comes recommended does someone have a link to buy the caps here in the states? Are two caps needed for each side of the PVC system?

I cannot justify the boost tap from BSH.

The PCV valve is part of the head cover and can't be removed. Do you mean the PCV hose that comes off of the back corner of the head cover on 2010 and older Series 2 cars?

A previous post in this thread says that Audi sells the caps for $27.72 each, BSH sells the dual boost tap for $60.00, so you don't save much with the caps.

You should put the year and model of your car in your signature, so there is no confusion about what you need for your car.

Hey Dave, thank you for the signature idea...

Do the caps just block off the ends the removed hose leaves exposed? I also thought that I saw the caps for around $10 ea...I will have to look again.

Hey killerfox, I was on the phone with ECS as you replied. The sales rep was very unsure but I kept telling him they should work and look identical. He is contacting his MINI rep and checking. I might just pull the trigger on these...

Have you personally done the mod?

1. Remove hose from PVC to intake

2. Install caps? Done?

Yes, I have personally done the mod. I am the one who discovered the Audi caps work, I have a 2012 Audi S5 as well as the Clubman and I have swapped the caps to verify they fit.

Me too, now I don't have an Audi to swap caps with but the ones from ECS do indeed work!

does removing the pcv hose from the valve cover to the intake cause any harm cause i was thinking of doing this and getting a oil catch can but i was unsure about the pcv delete. im afraid of blowing out a gasket or something. what would be the risk if you just removed the pcv hose and not do the catch can?

You have to install a catch can if you delete the hose to the throttle body, or all the crankcase vapors will go through the turbocharger.

The hose to the turbocharger is a PCV hose also, so you wouldn't be pressurizing anything, but you have to install a catch can to catch that gunk.

Please put the year and model of your car in your signature to avoid confusion about what may be needed for your car.

It causes no damage. DO NOTTTTTT take off the PCV without getting an OCC....sinplest way to explain what will happen is BANG BOOM goodbye engine and Mini will tell you to get lost for removing the PCV. Bottom line you have 2 options...Just the OCC with the PCV in place...or OCC with PCV removed. thats all your options

Has anyone who put on the caps and the catch can noticed blue smoke when the car is cold (specifically when taking off from an extended idle, aka a stop light)...?

I get a plume of blue out the exhaust when the car is cold and I sit at a stop light for 20+ seconds.. after that... nothing. All is good.

Power/Boost is all there... can't imagine why this would happen suddenly after installing...

Unless.. during production somehow the in/out ports were swapped and I have the valve cover hose going into the outlet of the can... I've heard some of their cans were made without baffles... so who knows.

I do plan to remove the can and see if it smokes.. but then I have to put the IM pcv hose back... which is going to be a PITA since I pulled the hose out already.
