new exhaust

I just got back from the exhaust shop and had the NM installed on my MINI this morning. As I was driving back home i noticed my exhaust has a nasty smell to it as well as a lot of smoke coming out of it. Is this my exhaust just burning off all the grease and stuff because its brand new or was it installed wrong ?? Heres a video of the new exhaust WHICH I LOVEEEE !!! but as you notice a lot of smoke is coming out of the pipes. Just wanted some feedback from people with exhausts. Thanks guys ... videos attached to the bottom.

Sly, sounds great, but there is definitely something wrong with that much smoke coming out. Which exhaust did you have put in, the cat back or downpipe back exhaust? I mean it didn't sound like they went and cut out the cat since it would be much louder, but I'm not sure wy there is that much smoke. Could be a bunch of things from too much packing to messing up the existing cat.

That's completely normal for a brand new exhaust. There is grease and oil from both the manufacturing process and the dirty hands that did the install. It usually takes 3-4 days of my driving for it to disappate, which is about 100 miles.

As stated, this is normal. Smoke and smell. My NM DP back system did the same thing. It will burn in, break in. Enjoy!

I have the same car and NM you do. Yes, its normal. What is really irritating is the amount of soot our cars generate. The NM tips are great, but my MINI requires that I clean the inside of the tips daily or you just have big black inside tips.
Does your car now whistle or scream about 5000 rpm when accelerating hard?

I would also like to know this. I've put off ordering for a few weeks until this issue is resolved.

I am going to right an official right up next week as today I start doing some heavy traveling for work and I plan on writing a detailed review and posting for all NAM people.

As far as your question claud of a whistling sound, I saw the video and thread that someone started and I honestly DO NOT have that issue. If I could go back and redo it I would of gotten the turbo back instead of the catback.

Its not the loudest exhaust ive seen on MINIs but heres the kicker, drone is extremely low at high speeds in my opinion ... Was doing a steady 80 last night on my way home and no one in my car was complaining
