Yes I could have returned it because of the faulty welds. Tha twould have been more hassle than doing the repairs myself. What would not have been fixed is the filter falling off and the poor fit of the intake tube to it. Those are the things I really have issue with. It would cost a few dollars to do and would improve the product a great deal.

Have had mine installed for a few days now, and so far zero problems. I got mine from WMW w/ the Foam filter, and definitely noticed more snap in power, as well as the SC whine. I've also noticed I hear the throttle body opening under throttle, which at first I thought the intake wasn't on correctly, but after some reading, and rechecking the clamps, everything is installed, and working properly.

I found it. Always in the last place you look.

How's the noise with this intake? This is a daily for me. I'd like a little more whine and so forth, but I don't want it to be obnoxious. I know noise tolerance is relative but with 1 being stock and 10 being your head is in the air box while the engine is running, where does this rate?
Any downsides? Constant whistles, hissing, etc...?
I know it's doesn't make power... Just looking for something to make it sound like I'm going fast

I can't speak for the DDM but I have the Alta which is maybe slightly louder. The s/c whine is ALOT louder in the cabin, it almost struck me as a bit obnoxious under full throttle when I first installed it but I immediately loved it. There is a bit of "hissing" as you put it at certain throttle positions. Some people get annoyed by it but personally I don't mind it. I'd equate the sound to that of an external waste gate only MUCH MUCH quieter.

I also have an Invidia catback exhaust so quite honestly, I prefer the soundtrack of engine/SC/exhaust.
Get the DDMWorks CAI from WMW: you won't regret it.

I've had mine on for almost 2000 miles and I have mixed feelings about mine. It was a major PITA to install. Like others have said if you tighten the filter clamp too tight it will pop off. The box was a bit stretched out when it was fit into place in my car, so aligning the top of the box was a nightmare. The intake tube was also difficult because it was cold out and I didn't have a source to heat it up. So it took me a while to get that on. I do love the increased sound, not obnoxious. I also noticed a couple mpg increase when I changed mine. That was probably due to the fact that my stock filter had about 85k on it, it was gross. If i was to do it again, I think that I would try the alta..

Reading this I'm surprised DDM doesn't just make the simple modifications (maybe they have?) - put a small flange/lip to hold the filter on the inner tube, and slightly decrease the diameter of the outer so the hose isn't so difficult to install. I mean if the filter is held on only via hose clamp, why make the outer tube connection so tight? Did they just produce a boatload of these in the original design and stock them on shelves?
It's these little things, especially the notion that I might lose an air filter if I don't tighten a hose clamp well enough (and that isn't even visible to check without opening things up) that make me think eh, I'll just stick with my JCW intake.

I've had an Amsoil air filter installed via hose clamp in my JCW airbox, and wasn't a fan of that method, at least in the stock JCW box. It's such a tight fit when you put it back together that it's difficult to tell if the filter is being jostled loose when reattaching the top of the box (and of course, no way to do an easy visual check). Last time I took it apart the filter became disconnected just through my shifting around the top of the airbox to open it up. Not really confidence inspiring, so I just went back to the OE filter.
