Troubles installing Alta Silicone Inlet hose

Thought I clicked submit new thread but looks like it never submitted. Sorry if this ends up being a duplicate.

I bought the Alta intake system and the inlet hose seems to have the fitting for the brake booster vacuum line coming out at the wrong angle.

The stock tube's fitting is about 90 degrees off the inlet hose or about parallel with the engine. The Alta tube's fitting spout is at about 45 degrees or aimed more towards the passenger seat. I can't get the brake booster vacuum line to connect to the fitting now..

Am I missing another piece to the inlet hose like an elbow to bend back towards the block or extra rubber tubing to connect to the brake booster hose??

I added a picture to show the difference between the vacuum fitting spout between the Alta and the Stock inlet.

Nevermind. I finally got it. Had to get a 90 degree 1/2 inch plastic elbow from hardware store (wish I could've got 45 degree as it would have been better fitment.

The alta inlet hose had to be trimmed 1/2" off the top of the hose all the way around that fits onto their CAI or else the lower part won't sit flush on the throttle body.

Also once you get the thing all put together this inlet pushes against the hard plastic fresh air tube that comes from the front of the radiator support.

Overall I'd have to say this Alta inlet has horrible fitment and just terrible initial quality. Can't say I'd buy from them again without checking *everywhere* else first.

I'd be interested to know how the Samco inlet hose fitment is if anyone has that installed?

1) That tube looks like it is for an auto, and your car is a 6spd ?

2) Samco hose > Alta. Ive installed both, and ive owned both. With the samco you need to trim the intake box side of it as well, so no surprise there.

Kc jr beat me to it both need to be trimmed and the fitment is very tight on the samco. If I would have had a stock tube when switching from the K&N hai to the alta cai I wouldn't have went with either silicon tubes.

The silicone tubes in my opinion are just "bling" factor, I think there is no improvement in performance with them over the OEM unit.

hmm well its definitely interesting to hear about fitment issues regardless of the system. I'm not sure if the throttle valve whistle complaints people often mention about the alta are from the inlet tube as well? I'm going to give it a month and see what I think about it all.

I still have my stock airbox lid so I'm debating about holesawing that and doing the dave-f type mod.

On a sidenote the JL stealthbox was just the fix I was looking for to solve the H/K's shortcomings. Also added driving lights to the MINI this week which really helped the candlestick halogen headlamps!
