I'm thinking of buying the Alta intercooler. Don't see any specs concerning the core. Does anyone know the size of the core and who's they use. Just curious....

hehe. Okay you got me. Nah, just joking. However the thought did cross my mind. The Alta is pricy for what it is. Perhaps $200-$300 over priced. There is a company in the UK working on a new top mount that's going to be around $550 and is only 1" smaller than the Alta. I can't believe there aren't more replacement intercoolers. There are tons for the WRXs.

Alta's thought is that the intercooler also includes the air diverter with the water sprayer, which for the stock intercooler they charge $179. If you throw that on the intercooler cost, it would be right in line with your $200 overpriced estimate. I asked.

Hope that helps!

I think that the intercooler should come with the diverter for no additional cost. I could care less about the water sprayer. Ideally, an IC like Alta's should be in the 600-700USD range.

I agree, 600-700 dollars for the Alta is more reasonable. At $2200. the Webbmotorsports front mount is cool, but I'll wait for dyno numbers...

Well I will wait for dyno numbers too. The thing is, if an Alta-style IC can can get 90% of the results of the Webb FMIC but at 45% of the price, is it really worth spending the extra 1200 for a 10% (over the Alta, not over stock) improvement?

I should point out that RDR is working on an intercooler with a target price of only 50-60% of Alta's. That's the one I'm waiting for!

Ilike the core and mounting of the Webb, but would be embarassed by all the bends. Now if you ditched the stock snoots and cleaned up the piping...
