Drivetrain BORLA do or don't????
Well Motormad I see you and I agree on one thing for sure , and that is that individuals should be responsible for their OWN actions! I am sure that if others did take responsibility for their actions less of our freedoms would be infringed on,But like it or not we do live with decisions that others make( good or bad) everyday. I don't go around looking to **** people off with my choices,BUT I am realistic in saying you can't make everyone happy so be sure to at least make #1 happy! :evil: . Anyway I also agree with you about the helmet and seatbelt laws, again back to choice AND individual resposibility when things go bad. I sure hope that we dont get moved to the "OFF Topic" forum.
Thanks for the lively debate.As you said before ,Peace .................................................. .................................................. ....................................... B*O*R*L*A now this post can stay here

I'm finally in a position to upgrade the roller coaster of an exhaust on my S. I've had my eye on the Quicksilver for over a year, thought it made the most sense but I wasn't a fan of the oval tip.
Well, they've finally come out with a couple different tip designs (2X round and oval) that I dig.
Check it:

(U.S. arm of a company that is supplying a group buy [see below])
I know "d-mini-ero" has experienced several exhausts for his S. I'd like any opinions on this system. How was the install/fit/finish? Did it drone? Why did you eventually remove and switch to Borla? Is it worth the extra $?
Which brings me to the thread topic.
As the alternative, I've been considering the Borla systems. How do these measure up to the Quicksilver in fit/finish/install?
I know the QS is more expensive for the most part, but if weight advantage/# of parts/simplicity in design/quality/fit/finish/etc. outweighs the Borla... or maybe it doesn't.
Partly the reason for this inquiry is this "group by" that's ending any day now. I found it on MINI2 here:
nullhttp://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...ge=2&pp=15
I'm still waiting to get the final total, but the savings at this point is nothing to write home about.
And yet another point to mention: I was chattin up the fellas at RSPEED about a used SuperSprint system they were selling. I mentioned the QS and he replied with this:
{
...we have seen a few Quicksilver systems come through here
and each one was hanging oddly - we had one guy wanted us to fix it for him
and the other vibrated violently when the AC was on.
I dunno - I hope they fixed these issues with the QS exhausts as they do
look sharp.

}
Having written all this, I think I know what my decision will be. Perhaps it just took for me to get it all out at once.
So I guess now I need to be convinced why I should not pay less to get a Borla.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

MINICHRIST IF U ARE STILL LOOKING AROUND I WOULD CONSIDER CONTACTING JEREMY AT http://www.flowfaster.com HE JUST GOT THROUGH WITH A GROUP BUY FROM BORLA BUT HE DOES STILL HAVE SOME IN STOCK FOR $625 + $15 SHIPPING. HE ALSO CARRIES MAGNAFLOW. GRACE
Thanks for the tip Grace.
I did hear about that Flomaster gig on another post. Great price and a sweet deal on the shipping. But I have no patients once I commit. Turns out Turner Motorsport is about 30 minutes from my house, and their prices are hard to beat for this area anyway. The Borla "race" $669, with tax came to $703, and I was able to drive home with it (worth the extra clams just for that).
Besides they have one of these in the showroom:

I had to pick my jaw off the floor when I saw it.
Then I get home:
Probably any "rational" person would have looked at the clock and saw how late and dark it was, and how all the ice and road grime was melting and pooling on the garage floor (been snowing for the past 2 days in Boston). And this "rational" person prolly would have said to himself: "Self, lets stack this box in the corner of the garage and wait 'till the weekend to install".
But I'm not rational. So I back that pig up on my Rhino Ramps, and crawl under that salty defrosting piece and I get to work. 2.5 hours later, I'm soaked, salted, soar, and cold. But my whip sounds mean and pi$$ed.
I'm soo glad I went with the "race". Great sound! Love the barble between shifts. I can make it be loud or mellow. Fit & finish - top notch. It was a cintch to install, far easier that extracting that stock mess.
Those clamps Borla uses are genious BTW.
