Drivetrain Need help! R53 misfires with NGK BKR7EQUP
The "QUP" portion of that NGK is something you should be looking at.
Multiple issues have been brought-up with running these plugs, even from stock JCW car owners.
Also, there's a lot more to plugs than just heat range. Number of electrodes, firing end configuration, gap, heat range, composition, etc.
Grab an NGK part # chart, and breakdown & compare the numbers for yourself. That particular plug cannot be easily checked nor gapped, yet every time plugs are purchased, they need to have the gap checked & redone if needed. I've had nothing but good luck with standard BKR7E plugs in my MINI, but if a plug is too cold, or has too much / not enough spark exposure, you'll get misfiring.
Just Google "bkr7equp misfire" and tell me what you find.

We only install the BKR7EIX-11 in cars with reduction pulleys, the QUP plugs have given folks issues in the past.
I would recommend a set of these NGK BKR7EIX-11, torque on the plugs is 25 ft lbs, and don't use anti seize on install, plugs are known to back out of the head causing misfires as well, so dry install.

Even the "11" suffix is totally unnecessary. That little "11" means they're pre-gapped at 0.044", which is far too big for these cars. To make things worse, if you do try to re-gap an Iridium plug, you can muck-up the Iridium coating fairly easily.
0.030" - 0.035" is the range for these cars. 0.032" is the stock gap on an R53...
Smalls, you're killing me
Just buy "copper" or platinum plugs, one step colder if you're pullied and have bolt-ons, and gap them at 0.032" or 0.030". You guys are over-complicating this so much. If you're going to buy Iridium plugs pre-gapped, at least buy them with the correct gap.

I just purchased a set of bkr7equp plugs from ecs tuning. Car had really bad misfire on hard acceleration when jumping on freeway or take of from stop. I have a r53 jcw 210 tune. I put back my old plugs ngk iridiums bkr8eix and car runs great.
