Nice looking piece Jan.

Is that the DEI material? I've got the same material on my CAI. Easy to work with and if its good enough for Grand-Am DP cars it should be effective in a MINI.

I've always wondered about the effectiveness of a metal air box. I figured it would have a level of heatsoak higher than other materials. Have you found this to be true? I can imagine not so as you have made it out of metal but always wondered the specifics.

Also, where can one get their hands on the reflective heat tape/wrap?

I would normally like a box made of plastic/carbon fiber etc but it's much easier to make the box in aluminum for testing and putting the gold foil on it allows me to get good numbers with it.

it's only currently for the 1st gen Mini's

we may however make something for the R56s
Jan, Sharo here in San Jose, I have been waiting for your TVS900 ever since you mentioned it. I have about 50k+ on my current SC and by the time you come out with the TVS900 I think I would be ready for it, hopefully by the end of the year?

wow that is early! Wish I could drive my car to your place down south but can't drive it that long with the shocks I have. I don't think the car would make it there.

Also, I am sill running on stock injectors believe it or not and wanted to add your newest cam with proper injectors and a new tune. Any suggestions?

Wish I could have you up here again or closer.

Hi

Reminds me of the Mclaren F1 heatshield, which was gold plated, from memory!!

Strangely enough, it is not the first gold plated air intake box I have seen for the R53. A guy out here had one, a modified gruppe m of some sort I believe ?? It was a long time ago around 2004. Not as good looking as yours

Robbo

The product looks awesome and I am sure it performs. Now to sound like I am being picky... Will the final product be welded with less rivits and bolts?

it will probably be made from fiberglass
we are really only making these for our kits as there is nothing out there with a 3" outlet to feed the big rotrex or TVS as the inlet becomes the restriction
