You linked to the general brake page and not a specific product...

You only REALLY need a BBK if you track your car a bit or are really into Auto-X. The idea is that the large rotors reject lots more heat than the stock rotors to prevent brake fade and boiling brake fluid. If this is your daily driver and you don't care for much aggressive track work or aren't really into Auto-X, you can skip the BBK. The only other reason you'd buy this is because they look cool behind your wheels.

The theory behind SS braided brake lines is that under hard braking they deliver a more solid pedal feel because the brake line cannot expand like the rubber OEM lines. That's really about it. Again, you'll notice this if you drive your car aggressively but if you're pretty easy on the brakes most of the time you can skip this.

There are quite a lot of quality aftermarket brake pads on the market. Lots of people on NAM swear by Carbotech Bobcats for street use. I like Hawk HPS personally. Both will wear better and not be nearly as dusty as stock pads. I would change all four corners at the same time. I would wait till the rotors are absolutely at their wear limit since they really aren't bad rotors to begin with. It's those dusty pads you want to get rid of.

The idea behind slotted and drilled rotors is to permit greater ventilation to the brake rotor to prevent brake fade. I've always thought drilled rotors on the R56 were a little bit overkill but that's really a matter of opinion.

Also, if you're questioning what "brake fade" is, a quick google search will get your up to speed. Most people driving on the street cruisin' around will never experience it.

Fusz,

For street driving, You only need to change your brakes when it is worn out. And you can change the front and back separately. Many dealers will change the rotor with the pad, but I think that may not be necessary if the rotor is not worn.

The ss line is a nice to have option in my opinion. However, in most street applications would generally not need it.

As mentioned by shane, no need to buy a BBK but you could do with a "better" brake pad such as Carbotech CT 1521. This is a DYI job if you are reasonably handy.

If you are just starting driving tracks a bbk is not needed. Change the pads to a track based pad. IE carbotech xp8 is a great choice. For street I would go with 1521, low dust, rotor friendly, added benefit to ct the base compound is the same so going from track to street you well not have a problem. If you have question I would recamend calling carbotech talk to Danny or mike jr. They both can help get you in to the right pad

Dont laugh!!

Just make sure they are installed correctly. I just went thru a bad experience from a shop who installed my brakes wrong. Yep..they put them on backwards. How the H*** does a mechanic install brakes wrong...

$300 later they are now corrected and working better!!
