I took Fluid Dynamics with Dean of Mechanical Engineering at my school, not a single mention of that the whole class! Just a lot of "solving" simplified Navier Stokes equations by hand...

More relevant. You might want to read the articles on tubochargers on Garret's website. Different tech but some good info on boosted engines and turbochargers.

most schools dont do pumps though. I think our mechanical department does a little, but im a chemical engineer. 99% of chem e graduates have no idea how to size a pump for a project, and my professor thought it was important. so much so that I actually wrote a program in maple to do tdh calculations for me if i inputted suction and discharge diameter as well as lengths of pipe and number of bends. It would take into account equivalent lengths of pipe, friction factors, pipe roughness, as well as form friction and if it was turbulent or laminar flow in the pipes. I could then plug in a set of data for a given pump and the program would tell me if that pump would work for my system. (would it cativate, or actually pump fluid) and then analyze the system to see what was the most cost effective pump based on pump cost and suction and discharge pipe size (ie, should you buy a pump with a 8 in suction and 6 inch discharge with 300 hp, or is it cheaper to buy and then run for 20 years a 100 hp system with a 14 inch suction and 12 inch discharge) so on and so forth.
fluids really is generally more of a chemical engineering aspect anyways although mechanical does do there fair share.

Those boost no.'s are also right in line with mine ( 11.5 up to 14.5 w/ a 13% or so JCW pulley)

My car is and always has been one of those "doesn't make the HP it should with those mod's" cars, but yes 215whp does seem low, I'm still in the 230+ range even with my high milage. (176,000 or so as of last weekend). I would def. look in other places for the hp loss.

Just to add to this thread.

05MCS, 192k miles, 15% pulley, CAI, one ball.

2k mine hits ~10psi and stays there steady, then near the redline it climbs to 14psi.

Soccerbummer, great way to look at it. Made perfect sense to me, just had to reread it a couple times
On my Scan gauge:
2,000 RPM's - 8.5
3,000 -11
4,500 -14
5,000 -15
Redline -15.5 - 16
