I just got the Mania Newsletter, and saw this:

I didn't see this discussed here, so thought I would share. If wrong, I apologize for the duplication...

Now all we need is for Tran-X to release a limited slip diff for this gearbox, and we'll have everything we need for a proper transaxle rebuild!
(I recently e-mailed Tran-X, and they do not offer a LSD for the new MINI. Not yet, at least.)

Seems interesting for anyone who has the money.. but isn't the 1st gear already tall enough? I don't know, I feel like the gears are already spaced close enough already as they are stock, but maybe that's just me, hehe.
Yeah Mini Mania's statements don't make sense. They claim the stock S has a top speed of 164mph. High steep is the hill they are driving down?
One of the main problems with the current setup is a tall first gear. They then go and make it about 30% taller. How will this make the car feel that it has 100 more horsepower. Without the pulley that first gear is really going to have a bog.

I think the setup they were going for is closer spacing of the gears for road racing not for stoplight street racing. For street racing a shorter 1st and 2nd would be ideal. Usually you want to be able to get to 60-65mph or 100kmh topped out in 2nd gear for the best 0-60 times. I think in second gear in my mini in hit almost 75mph.
