Bimmian & Simota CF Intake

Hello all. This is my first post in a while, nice to be back on here :0)

So, I am a carbon fiber nut. I love the stuff, and I have read all the debate over "why bother with CF under the hood" and all that, but I like it. I don't care if it doesn't actually improve performance (i.e. I know a CF part is not necessarily better than a non CF part) as long as the part imporves the appearance and function of the car in general.

So, my question is this, has anyone ever heard of this intake?

http://www.bimmian.com/CAI/MN

Maybe a review? I have scoured the internet and can't find a specific MINI application review. Some people said the heatsoak was atrocious, others loved it, but none of the reviews were for a MINI.

It's a great price, and I think it looks pretty sick, but I don't want to waste the cash if it's not going to be functional. If it sucks, I'll save up for the M7 CAI.

Also, anyone ever order from this company? I tried calling the numbers listed and it's always busy. Just trying not to get scammed.....

Thanks in advance for your help.

Here is the actual product:

It does not look as sexy as the ones on the website you linked to, and I do not really understand the design. I would think more air would be better, but the actual intake seems fairly small. The shape also puts the cover close to the actual filter, which I would think is not good.

From doing a (very) little research it seems like carbon fiber may not make a very good heat shield either.

The price also seems very low especially since anything carbon fiber is usually automatically out of my price range.

I think that this is bling, and not a performance product.

the bimmian, seems way to cheap for a carbonfiber product..and there are no pictures of the intake for the mini... seems to good to be true..but for 90 bucks..may be woth looking at...you never know..

the simota intake doesnt seem any more effective than the stock system...its pulling air from the same piping as stock system does..just a different filter and housing...

my opinion would be go with somthing like the jcw intake...it pulls in air from the grill in front of the windsheild and is closed off from the engine compartment..allowing only cooler outside air...

good luck with decision. hope i helped..
