This is probably a dumb question, but please bear with me here. Is the Rogue Engineering CAI the same as the Madness one?

Yes, it's the same thing.

I had the very first production Madness Intake and it shipped direct from Rogue.

I installed the Rogue CAI as at the time it was basically the only option because Dan at MINIPlo hadn't completed his DIY. As I look back, the most significant is the factor is performance is the quality / type of filter supplied followed by the sealing qualities against the bonnet/hood, The CAI is been okay for the first as I don't know if a foam filter is better, but the CAI is lacking on the second item. By now, I would believe that the sealing has improved with other knock-offs or different designs.
