Drivetrain Installed new ALTA CAI 2.0
Installed new ALTA CAI 2.0
Install was easy.
It's quite an upgrade from my neglected OEM air filter. The OEM filter was filthy.
Throttle response seems a lot smoother and I can notice the additional HP at high RPMs.
It sounds like Darth Vader when I flucuate the accelerator and sounds like a jet engine when it gets over 4k RPMS.
I can't believe people complain about the noise. It's barely noticeable until you get up to 4k RPMS and then it is welcomed! I blasted through a tunnel in 2nd gear with my sunroof open and it sounded awesome! I downshifted and changed lanes to go around a motorcycle and he looked back at my car like WTF?!
My only complaints are -
The CAI should be in a sealed box. What is the point of enclosing the filter and sealing the box against the hood when there is a giant gap in the bottom of it sucking up hot air? I want to close off the gap with some duct tape or something.
The welding job on the tube was horrrible. You can see gaps all the way around where it can suck in hot air. Doesn't matter considering the giant hole in the bottom though.
The box isn't cut to the correct dimensions. The slot for the tab on the ECU presses up hard against the tab and there's a stress mark on the tab after installation. It would be a better fit if the slot was 2mm more towards the front or 2mm wider.
