JCW Kit for 2011 MCS

Curious if anyone has checked into "or" had the JCW kit installed on a 2011 MCS. I checked with the dealer closest to me and they stated the kit and installation price out the door would be $2,700.

Anyone had the kit installed yet?

I would have ordered a 2011 JCW when I ordered my MCS, however I was encouraged by the fact the 2011 MCS has the new 'N18' engine design, but ordering a 2011 JCW gets you the prior 'N16' engine design. When I ordered my MCS, I was thinking getting the new engine design and adding the JCW kit later was the better choice (IMHO). Also, I invested in the Lounge Leather ($2k) intierior knowing that would be difficult to add the leather later - unlike adding the JCW kit later.

Anywho... back to the original question on the JCW kit for a 2011 MCS. Anyone have addtional details?

Thanks ahead of time for responses.

I think ordering the JCW from factory (even with prior engine) was better because it has better internals.

The JCW package for the '11 is basically bolt on parts + tune. Not the same as an internal + bolt on package.

Also tuning the '11 motor is still a bit in the air from what I read. Can be done but a pita.

I might be wrong but it was my understanding that the 2011 JCW is still the N16 like in 2010 jcw; basically a 2010 motor and none of the changes like on the 2011 MCS motors.

Yetti 96 - what you stated is also what I understand to be true... Again, that's why I wanted the newer 'N18' engine in my 2011 MCS. Although there may be some internal engine JCW parts I'm missing out on, I felt the redesigns of the 'N18' outweighed the 'N16' JCW set-up (IMHO).

UPDATE - got a call from my dealer yesterday saying that the 2011 MCS JCW bolt-on tune kit in still in development at Mini and they can't order it yet. I thought I'd mention it in case anyone else is looking to have the kit added. I guess I'll just wait and see when it becomes available.

buy the Access Port instead. You will get better results for about half the results.

I heard that an Access Port will void the warrantee if I do a 3rd party flash of the ECU... Is that true?

If they catch you, just reflash it back to stock before you bring it in. 2,700 is quite a bit, a much better way the spend it would be, an intake, intorcooler, boost tubes, and access port. with some cash to spare.

One thing I've read on Motoring file, is the new JCW kit for 2011 MCS now produces 200 hp and 199 ftlb of torque! Same upgrades parts basically from the 2007-10 models, but the new engine makes more power. Cost is supposed to be the same as wel as the current kit for the "first gen" R56's.

Just to clarify the article on Motoring File on the JCW kit for 2011's - the kit is not actually for sale yet. I spoke with my dealer and the part numbers are not active 'yet'.

The article is here - http://www.motoringfile.com/2010/09/...-for-2011-mcs/

Lest you all forget... The "Factory JCW" has the Big JCW Turbo and the Big JCW 13" Brembo brakes! Plus a bunch of other good stuff like the "Factory" JCW exhaust and other "Factory" JCW Bits!!

Best idea? Get the Factory JCW and then get the AccessPort for 250HP!!!

Holy S**t
