OCC on supercharged MINI?

Hi. I was on the Alta website, and noticed that they have an oil catch can for the supercharged MINI. I thought that the OCC was only needed on the 2nd gen. I don't own a MINI yet, but I am working on my research and was surprised to see that.

OCC is not needed as much in an R53 but it will make a difference with the intercooler. I have one and it does accumulate oil and has kept my intercooler almost completely clean.

Like stated above, if you ever take off your intercooler on the R53, it is coated in oil.

Oil catch cans do work on the supercharged cars, but they don't need them as much as the Turbo cars. The biggest reason catch cans don't collect oil is because of the design. That is why I recommend the BSH can cause it is the only one on the MINI market with a built in screen to have the oil condense to.

I have an ALTA Catch can on my 06 MINI and it works great. The can comes with some foam inserts that you put in the can to attract the oil and water vapor. Just cleaned it out this morning and you would be suprised how much gunk it attracts! It also has a sight tube so you can see when its time to clean out.
