Drivetrain Added noise with short shifter
Added noise with short shifter
I just got a Helix shift rod extension, and I didn't order the modified shift box cover. I know others have simply left off the cover, and that there is a heat shield between the exhaust and shifter assembly, but is there any noticeable noise in the car without the cover installed? I recently installed the TSW damper, and got a bit of NVH there (might try the VIP if it's supposedly quieter), I'd hate to get even more noise with the short shifter. Any thoughts?

That's what I figured. I'm really hoping to keep the car quiet, so does anyone have any experience with this:

Seems like it will work great, but is there really enough room above the heat shield for that big metal 'hump?'
Thanks again! I just bought my car a few weeks ago and it's driving me insane not knowing a damn thing about it...

Yes there is enough room for it, you have to bend the heatshield a little.
And if your looking to save a few bucks I have the shifter box covers by themselves, when you can cut your original cover and install it yourself.
