JCW Pulley Remover - Does it exist?

Does anyone know of a vendor who has a rental pulley removal tool thats fits the JCW supercharger pulley? So far, everyone who I have emailed has informed me that they don't have one. I have been told to try a generic puller, but I have read how troublesome they can be, and I really don't feel like spending a ton of time with my car out of commission.

So all you JCW guys, how did you get your original pulley off?

Sorry I'm really not going to be much help but I've been warned against doing it myself and at the same time also warned against paying to have it done simply because for whatever reason they are known to be very problematic (I've heard of some that even had to be cut off) and you run into a dollars/effort to actual gain (w/15%) issue.

I used the ALTA pulley tool and shaved down all four faces where the tool bolts together, worked perfectly, has been used many times! just the way I did it.....

I removed my JCW pulley and it was a ***** came off finally in 3 bits

Have you thought about changing the crank pulley? Alot easier.....

Call WMW...I think if you call, he has them!!!
Like many items on his site, it is not listed!!
Not sure, but to get a loaner, you need to buy his pulley..but I think you may sell you one....

I keep debating between a 15% or 17%, but really it doesn't matter until I find a way to get the old pulley off,

The alta tool is a purchased tool, not a rented one, correct? I wasn't looking to spend that much as most pullers are free to rent with pulley purchase.

Did you use the mini madness tool? If so, I hope it would work better than that!

I asked Way back in October if he had a JCW pulley puller but he said no, not sure if it has changed since then....

Oh well....
I could have sworn he said he had one at one point.
Heck I have heard it mentiond a few times that they exist...I guess with r53 out of production, some items are disappearing...sounds like you might need to cut it off....
Since you have lower back preasure, your SC will make a bit less heat, IMO get the 17 if you go through the trouble....remember you boost will be lower on a guage with the jcw head, but you will be flowing more air, so making more power than an unported head.
Good luck!! I bet the car will be a blast to drive when done.....heck the difference on my S was amazing, I can only imingine what a jcw will be like...hope you have lots of $$ for front tires!!!

Difference isn't that great as JCW already has a reduced pulley ~11.5%
Still think the best bet is go a 2% or 3% crank pulley same effect as a 15-17% pulley

Crank pulleys are kinda iffy IMO unless you go with the dampened one....
Whole different discussion on the merits of the dampers...(you do gain a bit of throttle response with the lightweight undampened ones, but do not make more hp unless the outer diameter changes....).
With a % overdrive pulley on the crank, you do drive the SC faster...but you also increase you other parasitic loads....the alternator and the ac compressor is spun faster...you can change the pulley on the alt to prevent this, and possible overcharging. Still, it an option...

I do not believe that you will overcharge by going with a oversize crank pulley as the electrical system will prevent that from happening. I think the additional loads are minimal.
There has been some discussion that the oversize dampened pulley's, depending on the % oversize, will dampen at different RPM ranges. I believe the 1 % oversize range is close to what stock is but the 2% was more for a motor that has more HP.

I'm not really interested in changing out the crank pulley in lieu of the supercharger pulley, for one, the cost is 2x-3x the price of a supercharger pulley, additionally, there is the concern about overdriving the other accessories, like zippy mentioned. Not worth the risk in my opinion.

Unfortunately Helix doesn't have one either.

I guess my only option is the modified alta pulley or a custom machined one.

OK guys, I got a JCW pulley puller this week. I've sent it to a customer, so when he is done we can rent it out.

Nice!

I know who I will be buying my pulley from!

How long do customers get to rent the pulley for?

If you know your not going to use it for awhile we'll schedule it so as many people as possible get the use of the tool.
