For those fellow UUC exhaust MINIS out there - Is there a unique, not-so-pleasant smell with your exhaust? Don't get me wrong, I love most everything about this exhaust system (fit, finish, feel, and the SOUND), but after a month and a half on the car, there is still a smell that I thought would have already been eliminated after breaking-in or "seasoning" the exhaust. This is not just me, as others who have been behind the car on a drive or who have worked on or around the car have commented on the smell. Decorum forbids me from listing the various descriptions here. (Paraphrasing Douglas Niedermeyer - "Animal House&quot.

Around 2 months on my UUC. I think it smelled a tad for a day or two. That's about it. You might want to make sure it isn't rubbing against your bumper area and melting something.

Greatgro - No easy solution, no melting plastic or other signs of inadvertent contact between the exhaust and MINI.

Mr.Whoa - To the best of my knowledge, no missing rodents!

911RSAmerica - My MCS!

Oh well, from the driver's seat, negative impact is minimized. When speaking of noxious emissions in one of the Austin Powers movies, Fat Bastard said that everyone loves their own brand. Maybe I will learn to love MINI'S UUC "brand". (That's now two goofy movie references for those keeping score).

I have the UUC exhaust for about the last 5 weeks. I did notice the "smell" for about the first 2 or 3 days, then gone. I attribute this to either left over welding or metal forming oil being burned off.

Seems like the UUC is about as exclusive as the Works kit. I've only seen a handful of people post that actually own this. I know the stock has been limited, but is that because they are selling so many or that they didn't have much in stock to begin with? I'm just surprised this highly anticipated exhaust didn't take off faster.

JBOO,
The price at $875 is probably the biggest turnoff for many along with the Milltech annoucement of a new system. I wouldn't trade my UUC for anything out there today or in the future. The sound, power, and just the way this is engineered/built is a winner in my book.

gosharks-

hope you didnt take that as a negative post. i was just really wondering why:

1) more people haven't either purchased or posted that they purchased

2) why UUC had such a limited stock based on the appearance of so few people who had purchased them.

Don't get me wrong, the UUC looks like a quality exhaust and had they're been more readily available and had the price been about $100 cheaper, I'd probably have ordered one myself.

Although my original post referenced a negative trait of the UUC (smell), I, too, lke Gosharks, Darxar, Greatgro, etc., love this exhaust system, and couldn't imagine ever changing. For some reason, my exhaust just seemed to smell stronger, for longer than others. The smell has diminished since my original post. By no means do I have access to unlimited resources - but from a cost-benefit analysis, I am quite happy and feel like the UUC has provided a great return on my investment.

JBOO,
I did not take your post as negative and I am not aware of any delivery issues by UUC. But I did want to express that I really like this system.
Cheers!

I think there is a delivery issue with the UCC exhaust. I have been waiting three weeks with no word on availability. Sure do wish I had it to comment.
