Installing Short Air Intake Directions

anyone have an idea on how to do this? couldn't find any tutorials. Any help would be great thanks..


i have a 2003 mini cooper s and I'm trying to install something pretty much identical to this.

Missing from the picture are silicone sleeves that will allow you to connect the tube to the throttle and then to the filter (4 clamps not shown either) *If the tube is silicone.....nevermind...just use that.

You have to remove all the stock intake plumbing. You can find a tutorial on any intake and they will all tell you how to remove the old one. Alta has one online somewhere. Once the old stuff is gone, you will see where it goes (the throttle plate will be a hint and the hose from the valve cover will be right there too.

Looks like half of the K&N system I have on my 03.

Pull out the stock box and this should fit right in that area. Shouldn't be too hard to do.

It's actually identically to the K&N short air system. What i'm trying to figure out is, where the tube on the side of the intake goes...I have no idea where to plug that into.

The tube is on the old system too. You will find it as you dig. It comes out from behind the radiator and starts at the valve cover. That tube probably just slips over the existing one.
