Narrowing down exhaust choice

http://www.quicksilverexhausts.com/p...7-on%29/88.htm

http://www.stratmosphere.com/mini_exhausts.htm
I've read most of the reviews here and only find a few complaints. Some have ill fitting systems. All like sound and say it's fairly loud, but not excessive. But, I've read those that add a down pipe,it gets loud . Read somebody claiming that if one would change out the tips, the sound would change? Haven't read any drone issues.

These last two are the most expensive.

It's tempting to get.I know their reputation on motorcycles.I'm thinking it might be over kill for the mini to have such an exotic of an exhaust that you can't even see. I have no idea on the sound or if it has any drone issues

Akrapovic? Haha you crazy baller. I can't say that I know the exact price for a MINI, but I know for BMW M3s they are crazy expensive (averaging between $5,500-$6,000). I also know from my M3 experience that they sound pretty stock, however with a large boost in power. They also are supposed to fit perfectly. For the price, they'd better . If you can afford to put it on your MINI, then more power to you. I know that lots of people have been happy with Supersprint. Even Magnaflow as long as you don't mind the loudness. I didn't go with any of those choices myself, but I know that a lot of people have been happy with them. Good luck.

PS: If you get the Akrapovic exhaust, we all know that true ballers go for the CF tips...

EDIT: Okay I got curious and ran a quick search for Akrapovic exhaust prices for the Mini Cooper S since I'd never seen them listed before. According to this website, the Akrapovic Evolution System will set you back $1599. If you wanted the downpipe as well, that'd cost you an extra $670. That's $2269 for the whole shebang as long as you don't count tax, shipping, and installation. If anyone wants to make a donation, I'd be happy to be the first person to test out this bad boy and get back to everyone with all the nitty gritty details .

What type of muffler do you think is used?It looks awful close to just a glasspack, but it's hard to tell by their pics

According to stratmosphere they call it a silencer. IMHO, it's just a resonator of some sorts, and I couldn't really see what is inside.

Ive had a Stratmosphere on for probably 7K now, and I still like it!. I moved to a new apartment and it is a little loud in the AM bouncing out of my garage to all the people across from it lol. Id like to get new tips and see if anything changes (and the fact the previous owner 'blued' them poorly).
(So if anyone knows of 2.75" inlet dual tips let me know!)

Fit is nice, but I think it does taps the oil pan or something right there where it clamps to the DP, as under load it gets a slight rattle vibration sound

Id say there is no drone, just noise, under any accelleration or wind loads. Cruising on flat hwy its pretty silent

it looks like it hangs down a lot but really isnt...

the muffler section actually sits up higher than my install - may need to adjust it some to get it there... hmmm.

the vibration is caused by the exhaust hitting the metal brace. playing with the flex pipe (where it connects to the downpipe) will remove the vibration, at least it worked for me.

According to the website I linked earlier, YES YOU CAN! All for the low low price of $670.

TAIL PIPE SET - (fits on original exhaust)
MINI COOPER S (R56), COOPER S CABRIO (R57)
Carbon fibre removable and adjustable round tailpipes dia 95 mm - $670.00

Titanium removable and adjustable round tailpipes dia 95 mm - $670.00
That being said.... It's somewhat tempting. I can almost imagine all the sexy ladies' chones that would drop as I drove past with those tips on my Remus .

$670!!! That is rediculous

Be better off with a set of JCW Stage 1 tips and figure out how to make 'em fit

Just tape a couple of $100 bills to the inside windows, you'll get a lot more looks

Akra makes awesome exhausts, they hydro form their pipes and are one of the only manuf.'s to be able to do it. I have had them on all my race bikes and not one issue.

No doubt about it. I don't think there's any question that their exhausts are awesome in just about every way: craftmanship, performance, the wow factor, price...

If I could afford it, and I hadn't just installed my Remus, I'd want to look at Akrapovic too. The price is definitely the bottleneck for myself, and surely many other people.
