R56 Mods

I drive a 201O Cooper S. I just purchased a new cold air intake and an alt a exhaust system. I'm wondering what to do next to increase the horsepower a bit

Get an ECU tune! Then a larger FMIC.

I've just started getting into cars since getting my mini in February. Could you explain exactly what that will do? Thanks for all the help guys.

Congrats on the new car! Also thank you so much for choosing ALTA for your Exhaust and Cold-Air.

The two next "must have's" for the car are the

ALTA AccessPORT

and

ALTA FMIC Front Mount Intercooler Upgrade

Those together will make a HUGE difference in power, not sacrifice any warranty concerns, and are very reasonably priced!

Check those links out and let me know how I can help further.

What? I don't understand. Unless I've been misinformed, I was under the impression that changing the FMIC and an ECU tune would be one of the first things to affect your warranty. Unless you suggest using the AccessPORT to flash the ECU back to stock before going to the dealer or doing any warranty work, I'm not sure how the warranty wouldn't be affected. And you obviously wouldn't be able to do that with the FMIC. Maybe I'm just reading it wrong. Would you mind explaining? Thanks!

NO problem!

The ALTA AccessPORT can be "unmarried" from the car at anytime and leaves no trace of its previous installation. Plus, we don't do anything from a tuning standpoint that would jeopardize the motor, turbo etc. So no warranty issue there.

The ALTA FMIC Intercooler Kit, doesn't change or modify any ECU signals, other electrical components and is a pass through device. Again, no reason warranty would ever get involved there. Wouldn't need to be removed prior to service.

If you are ever concerned about warranty, you may want to contact your local servicing dealers to get a feeling for how they view aftermarket components. MANY are very friendly, some aren't. However, if you ever end up going toe to toe with a service manager, it never hurts to mention the Moss Magnusson Act and that should quiet them up quickly. We have found most dealers to only balk at warranty repairs related to aftermarket electronics (stereo equipment etc.) vs. bolt on performance items.

Thanks again!
