Just adding the limmited slip wont add any power or tourque to the ground, it is just a traction aide. Either increasing the power output of the engine or multiplying the tourque through lowering the gear ratio of the transmission is what the OP is after for now.

But yes I agree totaly, if you do decide to crack open your gearbox in favor of better gearing, I would save up the extra cash and swap in a Quafe at the same time. (Youre gona need it, and why do the same job twice?)
