Apparently the plug in problem has been corrected. Would you please confirm this for us and let us know your thoughts on the multi adjustment.
Thanks, Steve

throttle delay

If I read these post correctly the throttle delay is an electronic issue? The first thing I noticed when I got my 06 was that in neutral you could floor the excelerater and it would take almost a second before any rpms would come up. almost as irritating as the length of the clutch travel!
Is this the only fix?

Sprint Booster is the other fix. You kinda get used to the throttle lag. My right foot just learned to be a little sooner I guess.

Only place it really bothers me anymore is if I'm about 1500rpm in second gear, decelerating and I want to match revs for first gear and then take off (think of having to wait just a moment as approaching a yield sign)
With the lag time in the throttle,.. It's just, well irritating because at that low rpm, it should only take a tiny bump on the throttle to get a tiny jump in RPM, but it doesn't respond quick enough so nothing happens -push hard enough to get the throttle to respond and I've over shot the mark. The solution is to plan ahead and shift out of second around 3000rpm, as the throttle "feels like" it responds better up there, but at that speed the match for 1st gear is 5000rpm -and well I don't want to seem like I'm driving like an *** in town. I doubt that made sense.... sorry.

This D1 looks interesting to me, because I thought Sprint Booster was the only option and its expensive, and I'll admit not a priority. Too bad we can't simply put in a kinetic cable for the throttle.

My issue is at start off I like to have rmps up it is alittle easyer on the clutch if you can full release instead of sliping. I will have to look up "Sprint Booster". Is this normal for all Mini's?

Agreed, best to get foot off the clutch quickly. That moment of inertia, when the wheel transitions from resting to rolling is only a moment. Idle is like 900 rpm, and it always seemed to be a smoother take off around 1050 or 1100 rpm.

Reason I wrote back is to tell you that when I changed my sparkplugs that helped a lot. The engine shaking and near stalling condition when releasing the clutch in first gear without touching the gas pedal got to be a lot smoother after changing the plugs. -Read up on it if you change yours. The threads in our cylinder heads are very soft, engine must be cold, and use a torque wrench.

FYI -- I just installed a D1 (ordered from AJ racing about 1 month ago). I still needed to trim the plug to make it fit... so looks like not all the ones out there are "plug and play." I just used a box knife and some needle nose pliers (to get at the edges deeper in the plug). As others have stated, it's not too difficult to cut, as the plastic isn't solid (just the outer part) and pretty soft.

Looking forward to trying it out shortly... I'm starting with SP4 based on the long thread on others using this.

Yea I had totrim mine as well, hope you left enpough to reinstal if the number of shims need to be changed. It is difficult to remove without streaching the plastic stud.

I think I read earlier in this thread that the D1, or the Sprint Booster work by "Amplifying" the signal from the throttle pedal.

Has anyone had any problems from the receiver end, "Throttle body" or sensor being damaged from getting too much signal?

Thanks

This will probally start a reaction but I talked to my certified mechanic and former mini owner and he said the sprint booster does not do much for you. Minis are designed for road course type driving not drag racing. He suggested a heavy foot works just as well and that the clutch will handle the slipping. He also said, as most have the reduction pully is the best single thing you can do for better performance.

Anyone ever have D1 or Sprint Booster be "the cause" of a problem?

D1 Spec controller

got my controller today it is not plug and play I did have to mess with the male connect into the accelerator pedal. Also apparently according to the guys at A-J racing the new controller that goes to nine when it shouldn't exceed 7. Once I sorted all the kinks it does make a difference in sport mode is where you really see it!!! it revs faster makes it much easier to rev match when down shifting I don't regret buying it all. Its a bargain compared to the sprint booster if you don't mind putting a little effort into making it work. If you do have problems the guys at A-J racing are great about helping with any issues. shipped to my house $140.00
