My s00per loud mini (r53)

In case you've ever wondered what a mini would sound like with a megan race header, no cat, and a single resonator and straight through 2.5 exhaust, 15% pulley, and CAI sounded like... here ya go (btw, its stupid loud... so turn your speakers down)

The numbers are not to be talked about lol. it did horrid on the dyno, and im currently on the prowl for a r50 borla muffler but i cant find anyone with ANY muffler that fits. Back pressure is def. a good thing with the mini...

Call me, I don't have a Borla muffler, but I have some others that would fit great that I got from the old minspeed exhausts.

WAY

you will definitely be getting a call tomorrow. I seriously think i dyno'd 140 or something. granted this mustang dyno reads lower than most mustangs (allegedly) 140 is WAAAAAY to low for all the mods i have.

The former magazine Sport Compact Car, was one of the first to prove that MINI's make better HP#'s with a little backpressure. I'm sure the article is still floating around on the web, its from like '02 or '03, when JIC was working with them to develop an exahust. All in all I think they only saw 6 or so HP with the silencer in, and NOTHING (HP wise) with it totaly un-corked. But in both configureations there was a small increase in TQ.

yeah well it sounds 100% open with the megan header and a resonator. I'm gonna be workin with Way to find a muffler that will satisfy this cars need. Plus i honestly cant stand how loud it is. if i push the gas more than 1/3 it just screams; the mic on my camera cant pick up how loud this is, but its so loud that the owner of the shop/person dynoing my car got out and said "wtf did you do to this thing???? that is the loudest car ive ever done!"

I believe it!

Right now I have a custom 2.5", no resonator, and out a Borla, with the stock manifold. And it is already loud as ****! I have a RMW header that is going on when I get home and Im already planing a new exahust. Probably going to use a dual outlet Flowmaster, then turn the pipes 180 degrees into two glasspacks, and out the sides in front of the rear wheels.

would getting it dyno'd an hour after putting it on reflect the HP/TQ numbers? i just remembered about the adaptive learning ecu.... maybe i should have waited? it seems quicker again? regardless im still working on getting a muffler.

kinda like this? theres not much room for anything other than a round muffler or resenator...and if you push it to far towards the back ..youll have clearance issues with the control arms and suspension.....i was worried bout it being so close to my gas tank but heat wrapped it and been driving it for 3,xxx plus miles...no problems...even at high rpms for prolonged periods...

Sorta like that, I would have a dual outlet muffler act as the Y pipe then bring the pipes back foreward, and out just like that.

That looks good but still realy loud.

You would be surprised at the muffling effect that a turbo has, an uncorked R53 is way louder, But not as nice of a sound even for a car guy. I still like my exahust note to be loud but it needs to sound good to.

Here is my current setup, (dont mind the dirt and peeling paint) 100% bend free 2.5" heat wraped piping, into a Borla straight through turbo muffler, and out the tip off of a 2008 Chevy DuraMax. Loud, kinda raspy at high rpm, but has a good tone for every day driving. The RMW header I have waiting for me at home will push this setup into the obnoxious loud catagory so I think it is time for it to go.

Its been changed out with an Odessey 600. I cut out a chunck of the inch and a half thick floor pad under the passanger seat, and stuffed it in there. I still have full use of the stock seat slider and adjustment mechanisim, plus the stock batery cable is just long enough. You do need to swap out the terminals and make sure you cover them totaly with rubber caps. I had a little incident when someone decided to put a can of Monster behind the seat (before I put the caps on) but, the energy drink kept it from lighting my car on fire though.

Unfortunately I dont, I never thought to take any. Geting them now would be pretty hard, I would need a zoom lens that gould see 12000 miles and under my seat.

When I get home this winter / next spring, I am going to start a thread that is going to cover my entire build. So I'm sure you will see some pics of it sooner or later.

got a muffler installed finally, i need to go get it dyno'd again now. im... just so impressed right now. my... "testing" buddy in his RSX-S ended up about 3 lengths behind me after the header/exhaust. before he was 1 ahead with pulley/intake. (toy cars of course)

This is an R53? Did you relocate the exhaust to look like an R50? Single pipe?

That apears to be the case, dosent it.

3 cars plus the one you where behind is a pretty big improvement, even for MatchBox. Is the DC5 a type S, and what all is done to it?

What kind of muffler setup did you decide on?

The Rsx is a type S, it has a cold air and a short throw (thats what really makes me mad, ive been doing so much work to my car just to keep up! but im finally ahead, now its his turn.)

the muffler setup is... well its pretty ricor IMO. its a 2.5 piping to a flowmaster resonator, to a big huge fart cannon... but!! the hp is there... and it honestly doesnt sound like i thought it would. its not bad.
