TSW Engine Damper, bracket bending.

Im on my 4th bracket now and its bent out of shape again. I was wondering who else has been having a problem like this. I find it odd that a product like this is still on the market when it isnt 100% ready.

I replaced all my engine mounts and even upgraded them like TSW advised me to do, and its still bending the bracket.

I've seen other cars and heard of this happening to others but I wanted to make a thread about it to see how many people this has happened too and what they did about it.

I know of someone with a high hp modded engine who had the problem, and it was never resolved. He switched to the VIP damper and it works well for him: http://www.vipcustomparts.com/minicooperparts.htm

It happened to me (also 05 S) on my first bracket and TSW sent a newer bracket that was thicker than the previous one. The new one has bent a very slight bit over a long time but not enough to cause a problem.

Ive been given about 3 or 4 brackets and they include the new ones and they still bend the same on my car. I dont know if its causing problems, but it sure isnt how the product is supposed to act.

I keep bnding mine too. I'm thinking of welding a pice of 3/4 inch wide X 1/8 inch thick steel across the top to make it stronger.

Dicks has the right idea.

Area moment of inertia is too low. Get somebody to weld a bar of any appreciable thickness (1/4-1/2in) onto the side of it you wont have to worry about it bending.

Yep I have one of those sitting on my garage floor along with, a BSH lower mount with the "RACE" bushing, and I am still waiting on BSH to make a trans mount like they said they where going to. What can I say, I like it stiff.

They will all be installed when I get home, along with everything else I have.

Pre-facelift bracket - snapped.

Facelift bracket - bent.

I have full engine and gearbox superflex/proflex mounts, so it's not like it's rocking around massively.

TSW damper - in the bin.

Where did you purchase the TSW motor mount? I have been trying a bunch of places and they are all on backorder (even waymotorworks is on back order for that part). I can't get anyone at TSW to answer the phone (I heard a rumor they were closing shop). I have to replace my leaking motor mount and don't want to go with another OEM. If I have to go with another OEM I may get the VIP Damper, but wanted to go with the solid TSW mount.

I did buy the BSH lower mount, its in the mail, can't wait to put it on.

HustonCoog, I bought my TSW can mount back in March. I have also heard that they where closing, and hope that it isnt true. TSW was the one small company that actually had some great ideas, and wasnt afraid to build them, test them, and sell them.

Plus I have some more parts to get from them,so they cant call it quits yet.
