We still sell the Powerflex bushings, we just wanted to make something better.

So, In on the fence if I should replace my Idler pulley in total with a new one or just go with new bushings. Either way thinking of added limiting strap from Way. My MCS has 138k and best i can tell the idler pulley is origional.

Thoughts

Of course when I replace what i will I will go ahead and upgrade to a 15% SC Pulley at the same time.

My rattleproblem went away when i replaced my powerflex bushings. 7mos and about 4k miles only the bushings were shot. My mechanic threw it away could have gotten it and send it to powerflex.

two sets of powerflex bushings, both failed

Installed powerflex tensioner bushings and they went bad at about 10K. Got them replaced under the "bad batch" scenario. New ones failed the same way in about the same time frame (installed in a brand new tensioner this time).

Just ordered and received Way's delrin bushings and these are much more rigid and may have a chance to survive. Ordered another new tensioner (DAYCO) and will fit Way's bushings. Fingers crossed.

Delrin has lots of history in suspension bushings with good results (but some delrin resins are rigid enough to transmit the feel of every pebble you drive over and I'm no princess).

Hopefully the new tensioner bushings don't go plastic and creep with the many, many cycles they will see.....

Disclosure- 15% SC pulley + 2% crank pulley and yep I flog it.

you know what i find interesting. i have the original tensioner on my car sense 02 and with 141xxx miles on it and the bushing on it are still good. so is the idler pulley on the tensioner. the shock is dead but the bushings are still good.

Gd91

GD91 - If you have secret method to making these last, I'd pay to know it!

Your bushings may still be there because the damper failed. If there's no resistance in the damper, the bushings will get very little stress (just along for the ride).

Charge On!
