Filter for Alta intake

I'm likely buying an Alta intake from someone who lost the filter (it will be just the airbox replacement), I'm looking for a filter that will fit the intake and be perhaps better than the foam element alta uses with their kit (I dont know who really makes it) doesnt quite look like a UNI, probably thinner foam.

anyhow, I dont know if anyone else uses a "universal" cone filter, but wanted to see if there are any bite on this.

I looked at the dryflow filters from AEM, i know they're made by another company, but I dont remember who right now.

any advice would help, I think the inlet tube in just under 3" so it should accept the universal filters with a 3" coupler, not sure how long I should make it...

Thread NECROMANCY!!!!

How did this fit? My Alta had deteriorated and I'm in need of a replacement. I've been looking at this and the AEM dryflow. I believe they're made by Amsoil.

If your foam filter degraded it was from neglect. Keep it cleaned and oiled properly (with the right oil.....NOT K&N ! !) and it should last the life of the car.

I cant see it being neglect. I've always oiled it with Uni oil and done every 10k. Its been on the car for close to 7 years now so maybe its just run its life but def. not neglect.

Mine has been in use for over 7 yrs and it still looks/performs like new. Been running foam filters on my toys and cars for decades and only ever seen them degrade/fall apart if not taken care of properly. Will never use anything but foam filters.

Sorry to hear about your problem tho. Have you contacted Alta about a replacement?
