Drivetrain SS Brake Lines...
SS Brake Lines...
Sorry for posting here... but people tend to visit this part of the forum more than the brakes, wheels and tires part :P so very straight forward question that i haven't been able to find the answer to. i'm putting SS lines with Super Blue fluid on my car and i was just wondering if anyone knows if i need to bleed the ABS pump when i bleed the system? or if there's any kind of special procedure to do it?
I'm not sure of the exact answer, but I do know for sure that when I put in my SS lines and fluid, I got air into my ABS system, and still haven't got all of it out.
There are diagnostic tools that allow you to run the ABS bleed procedure while doing a regular bleed, but I'm not exactly sure which ones.
The way I got rid of some of my air was to fully depress the brake pedal on a slippery surface to open up the ABS valves and work the ABS pump. This gets some good fluid into the abs system, and allow some aerated fluid to be pushed out into the lines. Then I bled the system, and repeated the whole procedure, which did help, but I have to do it a couple more times, cos I've only done it twice, and my pedal isn't perfect yet

Don't worry about the ABS system. You're fine as long as you got all the air out of the brake system. Super Blue comes in handy when bleeding the system. Your system should be freed of air when you see the Blue Fluid flowing out. I think the procedure is [left rear, then right rear, then left front, then right front]
Just make sure you switch back to Type 200 (Amber) when you go for a dealership visit. They gonna start whining about warranty

It's not that big a deal
just make sure not to let air in from the top, otherwise you'll end up like etalj. FWIW, I don't know of a low cost brake bleed system for the R56. AutoEngineuity does it for the 1st gen cars though....

I have a used set of Mach v lines... Very well cleaned, but from the looks of it they may be helix lines or Ireland engineering... Just cuz they don't have the red coated line covering... But either way they're very generic
Is the ATE Super Blue issue a Mini dealer thing or some regulatory thing?
Honestly, I'd say screw the stupid NO BLUE LAW. Just use it !
I mean who gonna see the brake master cylinder when its being covered by the plastic cowl.
If you have a money tree in your backyard, and are a law abiding citizen, then you can always bleed it with the SUPER BLUE then re-bleed it again with the Type 200 (Amber) or Motul 600.
I'm using the Grassroot SS brake lines. You can custom order them if you have BBK & you can choose any color you want. I think they're one of the best SS line out there.
