Dyno chart after RMW tune

I just got my 08 MSC tune by Jan in So Cal. Overall i am quite happy with the car performance. it has a better torque curve now but kinda bumed to see only .3 gain in torque, numbers are not as high as other r56 on this forum The car has DoS intake and Forge intercooler.

That's a really odd torque gain... My car is pretty much stock and gained 16.1 lb/ft on that same dyno. Maybe you should seafoam it! I swear my car felt faster after I did that for the first time.

Is your tune on your car yet? I'm still waiting for Jan to send me mine.

Looking at your dyno, while your peak torque may not be much higher, you maintain significantly more torque than stock in the upper rpms. Also, you gained 23.5 WHP, that's hardly anything to sneeze at!! Also, now instead of your power curve flattening out around 4500 rpm, it continues to climb steadily to almost 6k. I'll bet it feels much quicker now in the upper rpms!!

before the Jan's tune, i felt the car is running out of juice after 5K, now it continues to pull all the way to redline.

Peak gains are not the point to measure. Measure the delta between the before and after DYNO tune curves. Frankly, your butt DYNO will tell you that there is a large delta between before and after.

My Peak TRQ gain was 8ftlbs but the delta is around 25 ftlbs of wheel torque.

Your delta at 6400rpm is very similar.

As for Seafoam, if you haven't done the treatment, do it three times!

Both your torque curve and horsepower curve look unsteady. I know transition isn't as smooth as an R53, but it almost looks like someone free handedly drew those curves. I was at a Mynes tuning party to have my R56 dyno'd and observe other tunes on some '07 and '08 R56s, and the curves were much smoother. It just pops up a red flag in my mind...

There was an '07 R56 from Canada at the tuning party with the same mods as me that made 202whp and 232 wtrq! That was with a stock downpipe too ha ha ha!

You had 220 ft-lbs on a stock tune?? That's crazy!

You can adjust the settings and make a dyno graph look as smooth as you want...its called smoothing. Especially on a DynoJet....not sure if yours was done on a dynojet or not...but here's an example

Here is a dyno with maximum smoothing:

And here is the same one with smoothing turned off:

If the scale was different it would be even more pronounced.

But with a DynaPack, they read directly from the rotor hubs and are extremely sensitive and will show every tiny variation in power.

That is true, 220lbs of tq on a stock tune is pretty crazy... But you said you have a DoS intake right? I remember Jan saying that stock intakes were making more tq than any aftermarket ones.... Don't sound as cool tho lol

I had nearly 220 ft/lb on that same dyno and I'm nearly completely stock... Only mods are JCW inlet tube and JCW factory rear muffler.

man I am jealous of your tq and hp gain, and you don't even have aftermarket intercooler or downpipe

Jan was pushing for me to get an intercooler, may have to do that if I decide to keep my car. Still waiting on my final tune to be delivered remotely... can't wait!

He wanted me to send him my stock tune again so he could load the dyno tuned map in plus the other maps for burble and what not, which aren't there by default.

He's probably also having trouble with mine, it was fighting him a lot... My stock file for example was apparently a JCW map (without the power gains?) that was missing the start up sequence for some reason. Took about an hour of computer time and an hour of dyno time. I don't want to harass him either, but maybe I'll send a reminder email tomorrow, been a week almost.

I find that difficult to believe. I'd say the DOS makes more power/torque than a stock intake. The other aftermarket ones, probably not.

Take your stock intake with you to the dyno tune and find out. That is what Jan said, and he should know better than anyone
