Not much talk here about Nitrous- I saw the M7 kit but seems that very few people use it??- For a daily driver is it not worth it>>any feedback is appreciated__

I've no need for it on a daily driver and not sure that anyone would to be honest. For track maybe but I think that the risks of using it far out weight the worth. IMO.

As long as you don't over do it. A little bit of nitrous won't hurt. Just remember As they said in "The Last and The Delirious", "You're lucky that hundred shot of nawzzzz didn't blow the welds on the intake!! Personally, nitrous would be better off used helping the intercooler cool the air.

I've been thinking about the use of nitrous as a cooling medium for a while. I think if you had large enough fuel injectors you could go "dry" . The bottle should last quite a while, if the shots were small. However you would only shoot at WOT and higher RPM's .It would'nt be very often on the street and that is the problem.

Nitrous done right WILL NOT HARM YOUR ENGINE, atleast no more so then adding the same amount of power another way. From everything have seen, a stock r53 longblock will hold a 75hp wet-shot pretty well and pistons will give you LOTs of room. Doing a GOOD setup will cost a little money though and some planning. FES-auto has a shift light that also has external triggeing and that would be the best place to start your "kit".

If you can add the extra fuel, and can back off the ignition a few degrees then go ahead and do it.

I've thought about it a little more. I don't think NOS can be used for cooling on the street. You'd have to precool the lines before every shot, not very practical ,wasting NOS in anticipation. If you sat around at a light letting everything get hot, NOS lines etc, then got on it, by the time the NOS was cooling things down it would be over.

Seems to me the best use of nitrous on a forced induction engine is to help spool the turbo once you go so big that lag is a real problem. Even then, that's more of a drag racer's issue than anything.

Its all about the length of NOS line. I assume that the bottle will be behind the rear seats. And the solnoids will under the hood. With capured NOS between them . You will have to push the warm NOS gas out by bottle pressure (not much really) until liquid comes out ,by then its over ,on the street at least.

That's why they make purge kits. Not for clowns to spray clouds of laughing gas into the environment.

I get a sense in the next 2-3 years most states would have outlawed it for street use. Many have already......and others are following suit.

Is this an issue with other nitrous companies besides Holley? Also what is captured? A NOS bottle, nozzle, employee, office, boardroom....? I also didn't realize Holley had NOS brand nitrous itself, I guess it makes sense given how many NOS brand nitrous parts they sell.

Sorry, it's a pet peeve

I've run nitrous in a few different applications. Two Foggers and a couple of direct point wet setups. Properly tuned its a great power adder.. the average joe shmuck in a honda however gives it a bad name.

There are a bunch of different companies that make kits, NOS, edelbrock, Nitrous express, NX, ZEX etc. Lots of ways to go about it. Programable or progressive setups are usually the way to go, especially on the street. Bottle heaters are also a very very good idea, as are single line purge kits. I dislike the goofy double nozzled show off setups. Not needed. There are many myths and untruths when it comes to nitrous. It also gets pricey pretty quick.

As for spooling turbos with it.. ****! you'd have to have a massive monstrosity that was way undriveable to spool up to use it that way. The .63 AR on my 2.2L t3/t4 hybrid ddidnt need it nor does my .82 AR thats on there now...

Not sure which way I'd go with a MINI, but probably a fogger setup, 10lb bottle and a progessive controller actuated from an rpm switch and then I'd only ever arm the setup when I was in a playful mood.

You can and WILL go through it fast. Been there done that bought the t-shirt. I emptied a 20lb bottle in an afternoon once....

That's the main reason I don't like it. I could deal with the idiots who think it's a magic item where you push a go button and your car takes off like a rocket no matter what it is but I just don't like the idea of temporary power that runs out quickly.

Sorry I should have used the proper term,Nitrous oxide . You guys know more than me , carry on

From Wikipedia

In vehicle racing, nitrous oxide (often referred to as just "nitrous" or as NOS after the name of the brand Nitrous Oxide Systems)

No worries man, I tried to make sure I sounded lighthearted by using the but it's hard to convey tone through text. The main reason it bothers me is because I wouldn't want people who are still learning to sound like ricers.
I'm a lover of all things car but the car I've owned longest is a '95 z28 so I spend time around people who would look down on us but I try to join everyone together and get rid of the steriotypes.

I been searching for Nitrous Oxide intercooler spray kits, and trying to get an idea if one would be worth it on my MINI (for track day) I came across this article among my Google searches.

http://www.holley.com/data/Ads/NOSCoverArticle.pdf

I know it might be one sided (coming from the site of Holley) i thought it was a good article.

Has anyone since put a nitrous intercooler spray bar on their R53? How you like it?
