Just curious... why would you want it to sound like the most common car around? Even a stock mc sounds better than an overdone civic with one of those obscenely oversized mufflers. IMHO that is. I can see wanting more power, but mini is about euro-looks, and it sounds very european. There are many, many good exhaust systems that will make extra power without giving that ***-import buzz exhaust note. If you want excellent power and sound, the remus cooper system is nice.

He just wants a little bling bling for his ding ding.

Different strokes.

Carbon fiber is used by F1 teams etc. for weight savings & added strength.
Unfortunately (for the taste police), now it's crossed over to the "younger generation" who are using it for gas filler doors & side view mirror covers,
and now muffler covers.....!

I'm still searching for the carbon fiber wallet/athletic cup/ashtray combo.

Does Today's Man sell carbon fiber suits? Or is Puff Daddy's new line going to be carbon fiber jumpsuits?

Let me know, Cris, if you find a carbon fiber wallet/bikini/ashtray combo! Tee hee!

Cheers!

hondacivic,

That muffler is weld on and would probably work. Whether it would yield much power to go along with the big sound is anybody's guess. I'd guess minimal power at best. If you are serious why not be like the Hondas in my area and add two! In this case Carbon Fiber might save some weight over stainless steel.

Not trying to be offensive HondaCivic, but I have been at war with the local Rice crowd where I live. I used to prey on Hondas with my Talon before I got my MINI S. My whole problem with that mindset is looking/sounding fast without actually being fast... Whats the point?

well said MrWhoa

although, I hate those fake weird carbon fiber things that make no sense.. that is kinda cool looking.

I'm still gonna get the Helix exhaust myself, but to each his own.

I would get it, and bring it to a knowledgable Muffler Shop.

They can bend the right tubing, and bracketry to make it work for you. You may run into an issue with the hangers as you can not weld a hanger to the carbon fiber if you need a hanger at that point. The magnaflow may be down your alley also as they have a full catback with a bomb style muffler.

I do not sell the magnaflow, but thought you might be interested in it.

Thanks

It's kinda cool looking, and even maybe functional in this role... but noone shall see it unless you run over them, and I'd bet the first words out of their mouth wont be, "Dude, nice muffler"

Now on a bike CF exhaust cans are very trick. Had a really sweet one on my ZX-7rr

Pilo's point about the muffler hangers is very good. Here is a picture of Diamond Racing's Devil weld on muffler and you can see the hangers. Get the shop to look at the carbon fiber muffler picture and your cooper see what they say about fabricating or using hangers plus tubing with the proper bends.

Just like pilo put it ,if you really want a "amplifier" like that steel one wraped in carbon fiber you should go to your closest muffler shop with a 2 1/2 manderal bender and get some of that bent to fit your car. Then weld that gawdy thing back 5" from your lower valance so you look un capped

What it all boils down to is do you want looks (and sound - although I have never heard good sound coming from any of this type of muffler,) or POWER?

If you're after a certain look, get the ugly duckling.

If you're after power, I think you should do a little more research into names like devil, magnaflow, helix, or one of the others who have been tested, dyno'ed, and built specifically for the Mini Cooper taking into account things like the exhaust hanger issue. When you buy one of these units, you'll at least know what kind of ballpark hp increase to expect.
