I need help everyone....Im getting 17" wheels for my car this saturday. Ive saved up and im going up to the shop but.....i have no idea what im doing! Ill be completely honest and tell you all that the only thing i know is that i want them big and shiny! lol.
Ive been gettin help from a friend who keeps talkin about offset etc which i really dont understand and he wants to lower the car afterwards aswel. Now from what i can remember on his old car it sounded cr*p when you were sitting in it after her lowered it coz the tyres rubbed.
Now what im basically after is any help or suggestions in lament terms as to what you think i should do to a. make it look as damn good as possible. and b. to avoid the rubbing!
Thanks every1...sorry im being so dumb!

Dont worry chief i was the same when i was buying some rims for my MC. There is a good range to choose from so you are in luck. I would recamend opting for 18" instead of 17" and pay that little extra. They should go on without doing any work to the arches and it will only rub the arches if you have four people in and you are doing 90mph everywere.
I eventually purchased some 18" OZ Titans with very low profiles and they look the dogs danglers.

See http://www.wheelbase.co.uk

Enjoy,

First is that I believe you are in the UK not US. So a source that is close to home would be best to avoid shipping costs.

For 17" wheels and no lowering of the car then wheel offset of 37 to 48mm can work and not rub.
If you do lower the car then you will have to limit offset to 42 to 48mm.
Look for 4 bolt or 4x100 pattern. and rim width of 7 to 7.5" max.
Tire size would be 215/45-17 in standard non runflats. Do you have snow?

18" rims cost more, weigh more and tend to be wider with large wide tires so a little more trouble with rubbing issues and a little rougher ride.

wheelbase is for bicycles!

Try looking at Moss-mini for the UK at

There are several wheelsets at 17x7" size
Here's an example-RVR 2' Alloy wheel £542.95

Or Monza' Alloy wheel 17x7" Hi power silver £499.95
