Anyone done an intake mod on a JCW equipped MINI? Interested to know what one you chose, and what it was like before and after.

Mnihune is again the man w/ the answer! Thanks- very instructive thread. I'm sold on the intake, though I still don't know what the consensus is on which is one is best. The Milltek header sounds awesome, and I'll ask my dealer about warranty and a new header. Next question: if the JCW kit makes the car turn 200 bhp @ 6k, what do these two mods do to BHP? The Milltek press says it adds 12 bhp. With an intake, are we closing in on 220 or so??? Yippee-i-OO!!

Those numbers are optimistic and in best case scenario.For a JCW kit equipt MCS adding:
Milltek header- gains about 3 to 4 HP optimistically and not much loudness, I know someone that just added this.
Alta intake no hose or Pilo intake- gains about 6 HP

So for you I'd say both could net another 9 or 10 HP at best. The numbers never add up on the high side. The numbers would be slightly higher with a flow through design less restrictive exhaust system like Magnaflow, Borla race, Alta, UUC, or Milltek but most people like the JCW exhaust.
Other mods would be higher yield in HP gains such as a good ECU upgrade (as high as 10-12 HP) or larger intercooler (maybe 6-9 HP).
