Drivetrain Clutchmasters FX200 problems anyone???
Clutchmasters FX200 problems anyone???
Hey all..Just got my mini back after 3 weeks of being in the shop for clutchmasters fx200, clutchmasters flywheel, ball joints, etc.. There is an issue with the clutch now. It wont change gears, it wont disengage. I will be at a light with the clutch in, go to put the gar into gear and it rolls forward and I have to shove it in gear! What could be causing this? The mechanic is trying to say its the performance clutch, either the lack of thickness of the kevlar on the clutch plate, or the pressure plate? I heard it could be a bleed issue, which hes bleeding again. He was wondering if there was a longer slave cylinder to replace and compensate for the loss in clutch plate thickness.
Im at a aggravated loss right now trying to ask as many as possible to narrow this down and not get hassled because I gave him a performance clutch that everyone uses!
Any input would really help. Thanks

did you replace the slave cyl? we have seen them go bad just by taking them off. it's a cheap part to replace. it sounds like it not working right . bleeding could solve it, but if not try replacing it. and do it soon before to do other damage.

I've heard of a few failures.......Any oil or grease....from the car or the throw-out bearing that gets on the clutch will SEVERELY reduce the friction surfaces life. Also if the clutch gets glazed, it is all over....it will never recover. If you keep these two things in mind....the clutch has the potential to be pretty good.
Also I think this has been covered....but the FX200...the throw-out bearing does not get greased......clutch life issue with the oil contaminating the surface.
Maybe you have a bad master/slave.....but just things to consider!! Good Luck!

latest update...Mechanic went to bleed the system after installing the new slave and a thick black fluid slowly dripped out. So it seems like a new master cylinder is coming in tomorrow to replace and be able to flush out properly. Apparently there is a blockage in the system that is not allowing him to bleed out.
