Alta CAI Install

I just installed my Alta Performance CAI and I am by no means a mechanic. For those who are thinking about having it "professionally" installed should think twice. I ordered it and asked a few folks about the install and the majority advised me to have someone install it. When I got it in the mail I just did it myself, followed the directions step by step and finished it with an hour. I am happy to say I am very satisfied with the CAI and it sounds great.

I just installed mine about two weeks ago and found it pretty simple as well, would you describe your intake as hissing/taking deep breathes. whenever you give it some throttle.lol

They give a hissing sound...you can really hear the intake breathe! Makes the supercharger sound more pronounced, atleast I thought so. Helped my friend put one on his 05 MCS. Hardest part was wrestling on that silicone hose - the intercooler leaves little room for working. But yeah, not too difficult.

I will post some pictures as soon as it stops raining. I also ordered the cover but I have not installed it yet. Will this have any negative effects as far as the overall performance of the CAI? Just wondering.

actually its better to have the cover than not... it helps keep a lil extra of the engine bay heat from affecting the CAI... i just installed mine today, but i think it sounds like a kazoo (not bad, just saying)

Call me biased but I prefer the sound of my R50. It roars.

The Alta intake was a breeze to install. I dont really like the whistle it gives at part throttle, but when you slam the gas it sure does whine

Unfortunately it is still raining but I managed to take a picture. Thanks for the input on the cover. I'll install it when it stops raining. Thanks

Do you have any photos after the install? Im curious if the original intake inlet form the grill still serves a function.

That inlet still does serve a function and is reconnected to the ALTA intake. The more fresh air the better!
