Yeah--I guess the lines Do run together---I was pissed at the time! Just asking IF anybody has had any REAL experience w the plasma booster. All the old discussions kinda shy away from a real answer -be it good or bad.--------The MSD comment was MY EXISTING EQUIPMENT (and ALOT more!!!) fishead#1

Generaly it is very controversial.....people that have them say the car DOES idle smoother.....but beyond that it seems hard to quantify. Do a search....there are hundreds of discussions about this!! Some have also blamed ignition system failures on the booster or significantly shortened coil life. However there are also satisfied users...who swear by the improvements....and they are some very well regarded users and vendors who do not even sell the item anymore due to high return rates!! Generaly, even the likers of them say it is not a good bang for the buck type of an improvement...there are many other items that will make more HP for less $$$.

Save your money for something else. It's a fancy box with flashing lights. If you want real power give us a call and I'll help you out. This is just some snake oil like someone else said.

It is basically a rant regarding the Plasma Booster and that he had conversations with Plasma Booster maker about the benefits and/or horsepower gains with the product and the maker could not give a valid answer. And that he really appreciates ZippyNH honest, well thought and researched reply. That he has been a victim of vendor "gimmicks" (products) before. He has a heavily modded O5 that is reaching 300hp by tried and true techniques by the hot rod community (assuming head, cams, headers, port & polish) and some ecu tuning.

I had a plasma booster installed in early 2006. It made the car idle smoother and it seemed to rev with a cleaner note. (more refined exhaust tone)

20,000 miles later, my ignition coil died. This was in early 2008, a good 2 years after installation. Was this related? I am not sure. The car had a code that said there was a low spark in one of the cylinders, even went into limp mode. I have not put the plasma booster back on.

May I mambo dogface to the banana patch Plasma Booster?

In all seriousness, I have known a couple individuals with these and both have removed them due to ignition issues.

Yeah, I had the misfortune awhile back of getting it confused with the Sprint Booster, which is actually a favored product.
