P 0171 with RMW Header

So my Mini gave me the P 0171 code the other day and I cleared it out with the scan tool. It hasn't came back on.............yet. My scan tool says system to lean bank on the description. What is the ECM trying to tell me with this code? It is my only engine mod with my 2006 JCW Cooper S (23K miles) is the RMW Street header. Thanks in advance for any help.

Don't post? Are you serious? No one else on NAM may know what certain codes may mean?

You fan boys are hilarious.

Don't post here on an internet forum
Post script- as an owner of this header this is relevant to me.

Just do a google search and you can find out what a code means, what causes it, and possible solutions. It's alot quicker and easier than waiting for people to post information, that may not even be accurate.

Here is what I found from a search on www.obd-codes.com

"A code P0171 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty. Note: The use of "oiled" air filters may cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled. There is also an issue with some vehicles where the MAF sensors leak the silicone potting material used to protect the circuitry.
  • There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor."
OP - I don't think this has anything to do with your RMW header. However looking at your previous threads I can see that this isn't your first time posting a thread concerning RMW header and codes. If you haven't done so already, I would consult with your mechanic (if you're using one) and/or Jan and see if he has any recommendations for you. Good luck!

I totally agree with all the posts that say ring jan. Why bring it up on a internet forum? If you bought a piece of electronic equipment that went faulty you would go back to where you bought it from. This is no different, ring jan and get it sorted out the correct way.

dont think we have a maf sensor but good read . i kinda like seeing that it's not just alta headers doing this . i personally dont want to mail my header to alta as i live east coast and seems like waaay too much of a pita for what has been determined as a j bung fix . least jan is providing the fix to his costomers . what's the cost 30.00 ? i spent 1500.00 on the whole exhaust and no one offered me a 30.00 dollar fix . just the run around .

There is only 1 Mynes header that I know based on the forum in their website that has thrown a code. My Mynes headers is code free, it makes power and sounds sooo good.

Retardation at its finest.
Call the vendor problem solved
You cant expect the car to run perfect forever no matter what header you put on it. Were doing things to these cars that they were never ever designed for. So they throw a code. BFD Everyone has a fix for it.
Why cry on the internet. Call the vendor.

Wasn't a question, if you read it right I was saying what scoulburn79 was suggesting.

And as Jan has no premises and trades from his house, I thought it was odd that he would suggest customers should take there cars there, the last thing you want is people knocking on your door every night / weekend, Jan works hard enough as it is without it following him home.

Him and his wife desereve some quite time

Your right Paul, I never stop being amazed at the great things that come out of folks garages, backyards, homes, etc... Wasn't it Ken Tyrrell who developed and built the winningest F-1 car in history for Sir Jackie Stewart in a hut at his woodyard in deepest Surrey?!!

then you can make that 2 you know of . I don't post in there forum as it is to much of a fanboy forum for pro Mynes. I have no complaints about it, good quality and design - I noticed an increase in throttle response and lower to middle torque - however I just wanted to make sure everyone understands it's not just the RMW or Alta that can throw a code and that RMW offered to help with the fix . Also to be fair - I have not contacted Mynes yet to see what his/their response is to fixing the SEL - I am not to concerned about it. I have my Mini running the way I want and love it - some day I will fix the SEL but for now have bigger things to worry about

Good for you Hippie. Personally who cares if you have a light . I personally think this whole light BS has been way blown out.

Good news though. Water temp today was awesome and the waves were perfect for my 10' Dewey Weber monster. What an awesome day at the beach.
