Drivetrain Pulley help
Pulley help
New 05 mini S owner here thinking of doing 1st mods.
I have been reading that the 15% pulley is the most popular to start. So do I just purchase the pulley, install and voilà! or do I need more components to go with it. If so what are they? I have seen here mention of intake, new spark plugs but do not understand if they are absolutely necessary and why.
Also, which brands are best bang for the buck quality and price wise. Also thinking of the one ball exhaust mod.
Thanks in advance!

Other mods can be done with the pulley to further enhance power, but a 15% pulley should work fine on its own with no other mods.
Some folks think you should go a heat range cooler on the plugs. But its not at all clear this is a must do with a 15%. If you don't race the car or drive it terribly hard, I think you'd be fine with the stock plugs.
Depending on the pulley vendor, they may recommend you go with a different/shorter supercharger belt. If so, I'd do this at the same time as you're having the pulley done.
While not terribly difficult, this is not a good DIY project for the novice and you need some special tools. I'd try and find a shop that has done them before in your area.

give webb motorsports a shout; i went with his pulley and he rented me the removal tool for a buck . also he provides a step by step instruction sheet . very easy do it yourself job . also do get the one step cooler plugs . do a search in this forum and see the concensus . 380 cc injectors wont hurt either .and dont forget to get one of the better methanol kits available now .
new belt is pretty much a must or you have a good chance of slipping at higher rpm and if you dont have a boost gauge you may not be able to tell that its happening. one step cooler plugs are a good idea and injectors aren't really needed at this point
