Drivetrain 17% Pulley, GRS Intercooler and 7600rpm rev limiter....safe?
I've got a 2004 MCS with 107,000 miles on her. I'd like to go to a 15% Alta V2 pulley. Should I be concerned given how many miles are on the engine already, or will that make any difference? Does anyone here know if it's any riskier changing pulley size on engines with higher miles on them?

Hey Kurtster, no one can say for sure when the SC will need service. Go ahead and have fun with a 15% and enjoy the power.
One thing I have seen in many of the dyno runs reported here and other places showing the high mile MINI' putting down the same or more power then same MINI/mods of lower mile Cooper's.

Ok I have an update. I've spoken to Pete at Greasy's Garage and he's recommending I go with the 17% Alta V1 pulley.
After reading this whole thread again, I have concerns. I drive 65 miles each way to work. I often drive at a steady pace of 80-90MPH for long stretches of 20 min. through the 1.5 hour commute. I have no budget for a different cooling system. From what I'm reading, it appears that some people would not recommend I do the 17% because I'll be generating insane amounts of heat. Pete doesn't seem too concerned. There's kind of a contradiction between what I'm reading and what my mechanic is recommending. I don't want to throw Pete under the bus, he's a great guy and comes highly recommended by members of the forums.
So I'm confused and not sure whether to go with 15% or 17%. I'd love the extra HP from the 17% but I'm not willing to knowingly fry my SC from overheating. Any recommendations on how I should reconcile these two different suggestions?

currently running a 17% for last 35,000 miles, 10k with std intercooler so it can be done,
the "unoffical speed limit" in the uk is about 80mph
ie 70mph + 10% + 3mph before the law consider you fair game
my car can cruise all day long around that speed, i often do 4 hours at a time
but extended higher revs soon ramp up the temps,
and any track-work will require better cooling
