M7 FMIC Install Help Needed

I searched and searched and cant find what I need.

I am installing a M7 FMIC on my 09 JCW and I am having fitment issues. I looked at M7's website for install instrucitons and could not find any. It looks as though I may need to do some trimming underneath the bumper to make things fit properly but I dont know where to begin. I bought the FMIC from another member so I don't have the instructions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

TIA!!

Maybe provide us with a description of what the problem is?

It's probably another one that requires some trimming...sure many of the Alta folks can provide info on what needs to be trimmed.

I took out the bottom grill and found that the bumper is hitting the FMIC. It looks like it needs to be trimmed but before I go doing that I want to make sure.

I guess not many have installed the M7 FMIC?

Not sure how similar the ICs are but try looking at the Forge instructions. The Forge also requires some trimming required for a fit. And they show the trimming very clearly in their instructions.

Thanks for all the help and input everone. I got the bumper trimmed up and everything fit pretty good for now. Could be a litte better... Maybe a mesh grill is in my future!

Anyway, since I was in there doing the intercooler I also decided to install an NM Engineering discharge pipe. I went for a little test run and started to get a CEL code. It came up as P115D. I found a little info but it seems to usually show up with exhaust mods. Weird that I got it.

Anyway, any idea on cause or solution? It actually made my car stall and not start for a few minutes. Finally got it started but it's still acting weird. Before the CEL came on it felt like the turbo got shut off...

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Make sure all the connections are tight and there are no air leaks.

As Slinger said, make sure there are no leaks and nothing came loose while you were driving.

On another note, how does turbo get "shut off"?? It's spinning either way..

I feel like such an idiot... I spent so much time making sure the new NM discharge pipe was installed correctly I completely forgot to tighten the tube on the other side of the intercooler.... I just went and looked and that is the problem....

That's why it felt like the turbo shut off.... Just no power...

Thanks again guys!!!! Even though I feel silly I appreciate the reminders and help!!

o man. wish i would have seen this thread earlier. Im the one that sold you the intercooler and i didnt have to trim my bumper at all. All that i had to do was move the temp sensor and then it fit perfect. there were no instructions when i got it either but i followed altas instructions to get the bumper off then it worked fine for me. Im sorry to here you had problems but if you have more pm me please.

I had to just do a little trimming including the temp sensor. Not that big a deal. It's not like I had to ruin the bumper or anything. It turned out great and I am glad I got it. Especially now that I have everything all tightened up!!!
