I was wondering whether the JCW stage 1 software can be installed to anoither mini from the one that purchased it with its VIN number.

My friend got the stage 1 kit and has the CD with the software, I got the JCW airbox and a full milltek exhaust and a Unichip , but its giving me hard times with the harness and CELs. Can my friends JCW software be used to my car?

No.

The CD doesn't include the software, only a key to unlock it from the dealers systems. The CD is created for the specific VIN number and will only unlock the software for that car.

It might work if you could reverse engineer the contents of the CD to replace your friends VIN with your own. However this is unlikely to be easy... Plus you'd need to find a Mini dealer willing to install it for you which probably ain't gonna happen seeing as they won't even sell the tune seperately.

Maybe look at what RMW has to offer?
