Exhaust sniffers and AFR's

Gents,

I'd like to know if having a cat / sports cat / decat has an effect on what a wideband sensor sticking into the exhaust during a rolling road has any effect on what the sensor reads for AFR.

Does having a cat for example, mean that the AFR being read by one of these sensors will actually be reading a leaner condition than what is actually going on? Where having a decat would show closer to 'actual'?

any thoughts?
