I just caught up with this thread, I have been gone all weekend. I understand that this has been gone over before, but there has been nobody that I knew of that could completely rebuild the M45 until now? Plus with the 02's and 03's now approaching 100k and more miles, it seemed like a good time to bring it up again Do you think if someone needs to have a complete SC rebuild, would it be worth the extra $100. to get it ported?

I haven't seen a good set of data one way or the other.

Definitely get the porting. If you are getting a rebuild, then spend a few dollars more for the porting. This will still be way cheaper than other options on getting a SC going again.

got it back

OK my supercharger is back here are some pics

and a nice little emblem they added
I do not have before pictures so nothing to compare it too.

when I spin the pulley the supercharger feels tighter ,as all of the slop was removed. I had some binding when I sent it out and one could hear the inner workings of the supercharger. Now the binding is gone and it is much quieter when rotated by hand. I thought that the binding mite be the water pump drive, but that ended up not needing to be rebuilt. So in the end it cost me 595$+S&H for porting and rebuild not cheep, but seeing the end results a good and fair price.

Looking good Qtip.

Do you have any higher res photos; I see something in the 1st pic on the right side of the SC inlet.

I had the Endyn modified supercharger for a few years, in addition to the porting and pressure relief port closures; Endyn applies an anti-friction coating to the interior case. I also had a special coating applied to the lobes. I was able to see different states of the porting processes with the supercharger disassembled and the precision with which the details were executed was exacting; all lobe edges matched their corresponding case features without radiuses. These photos are borrowed from Endyn and are not of my SC.

I can’t give delineating dyno data, but can say it helped attain a 60hp/45lb-ft torque over stock baseline in conjunction with a 19% pulley, Endyn head, 380cc injectors, and Helix/GIAC flash. Logs of IAT from other stock vehicles and my car on the same course, traveled on the same day, at legal speed limits, showed higher temps on all others. Unfortunately, the coatings and porting were not enough to keep temps down on the dyno or high demand road use. With the options available today, I believe money could best be spent elsewhere, but if one can afford it, why not leave no-stone-unturned.

I forgot to add this story, the Endyn SC also had resistance when turned so I thought it best to run-in the SC before installation. I fabed this rig and couldn't resist putting my hand on the intake port out of curiosity while it was running; the vacuum was scary intense.

well as there are a few mods going on at the same time ....I would not be a good one to give a report on the HP gain

no I don't , If you are referring to the dark spot on inside of SC its
the hole for the vac tube

I've been thinking about this a lot...

Only thing I can come up with is that less reversion = higher pressure delta and that pushed the unit farther off the efficiency plateau. I did some stuff with intake that really reduced the pressure drop pre SC and the IATs post SC skyrocketed! Scary high!

But without more data, this is just a guess....

The whine is GONE! I thought the whine was good, I like the whine and thought everyone else did as well. Why do you grin when losing something desirable? Many people spend big bucks on after market intakes to get more whine.

Is it possible that your SC grinding or worn noise is gone as opposed to the whine?
