Question about oil catch cans

I have an M7 OCC that I installed this summer and, regrettably, forgot to include it in my services and checks. This weekend, I finally looked at it and was shocked to see that the sight tube was opaque:

Due to the installed location, I had to take it completely out to drain it. The first thing I noticed was how heavy it was since it felt full. Then I noticed the drip:

The sight tube was really cruddy, too.

When I drained it out, the fluid was more like pond scum than an oil slick.

This fluid is brown and mostly water with no petroleum smell and few of it's characteristics. Though the Netherlands, or Holland for you 'Mericans, is quite like Seattle for number of rainy days, I was quite surprised to see this much fluid accumulate. Of course, I will check it more than once every six months, however, I'm wondering if this sort of fluid is normal?

Cheers!!

All that moisture was from your oil. As the oil heated up with engine operation, the moisture evaporated out and was condensed inside the can. Better there than back through the intake.

Do a search on Oil Catch Cans and you will find two ways to connect it. One way you get just oil, the other you get oil and water. I'm pretty sure you have the latter. Some choose to use two OCC. I only get oil on mine.
