CEL is now just another pretty light on my dash- wish they had a solution- the extenders didn't do a thing!!! One or two of them! All they told me after that was wait for the new ECU there coming out with- more $$$$ lmao! Hopefully they'll be a nice discount for DP owners....

I still have yet to install my downpipe which I've had since beginning of January. Do you lose power at all when the CEL comes on or is it just another light on the dash? haha

I don't know if you lose power due to the cel, but my MCS with the full turboback put down 15-20hp less than another club members car (BoomerMCS) w/ only a militek catback at the PS Mini dyno day.

Exhaust - $1500, Spacers - Free, CEL - F*#%'n Priceless. NO wait a minute not priceless. For this kind of money you think you get some sort of fix that actually fixes the prooblem. There I go again with my "kooky" talk.

40,000 miles, no CELs full turboback. V-bands where my only issue.
In fact, with full exhaust, tubes, intake, not one CEL ever.

I started getting them about 5,000 after install with the catback too which was about 6,000 miles into owning the car. Decided to weld the middle section together but kept the v-band connection from the DP to the Alta CATBACK. No CEL's since. I just hit 14,000 miles.

Only paid 70 bucks for the welding, well worth the money!

Just to clarify dtsoccer, you where getting cels with only the alta cat-back and no down pipe? what was the code you where getting? The reason I ask is I have been getting a cel I have the alta cat-back no down pipe. well I do have the stock down pipe, with no down pipe the car wouldn't run.

Sorry to hear that, but when I got the code I had the whole Turboback system, with both the DP and the Catback. I don't remember the code's name, but I was getting leaks in the mid section, due to the bad v-bands. I got it checked at mini and i was throwing emission codes...they said i should weld it, I did, and i have been fine since.

hope that helps!

I dont see how you guys got a cel with just a catback on. You can disconnect your system and run with the OEM dp and you should still not get a cel. There is nothing in teh back to monitor whats going on. The first r56 i worked on, the kid drove 40 min to my shop. He came with an open OEM DP with no catback on. He drove like that for weeks.

Also for what ever reason, i beleive that the euro ECU are more forgiving to CEL codes because the laws in california have the tuffest emission laws out. I know in mexico at one time cars that came with cats here did nto have it overthere.

I feel your pain, I was pissed after getting the run around from Alta forever and finally settled on a refund/return of the downpipe, but they wouldn't take the catback portion.

The full turboback does have a great sound to it, there is a noticeable drone under any load on the highway, but it's not that bad.

I noticed that they now have a disclaimer about their downpipe causing CEL's on their website, so good luck getting any refund now.

Thanks for that.

Perhaps their ECU project will allow those affected to avoid the error code...
