Drivetrain Gas mileage sucks! Needs improvement!
I get between 18-23 mpg on advrage but i have a heavy right foot Its a 2nd car so I am not too worried about the MPG on it. I was back when I got my 02 MC that was a big reason for going with the cooper vs. the s but now I just like to hear the SC scream!!!
I think I have everyone beat,
That low point represents 14mpg. Notice how many of those fall below the 20 mark. In any event I am expecting an improvement in my MPG this fill cycle, I got a Scan Gauge II for christmas and I am now using that to monitor MAP pressure and the MPG it calculates. If you can keep the MAP pressure under bout 15psi then you are staying out of boost which is helping you MPG.

Come down to Orange County and have Jan at Revolution Mini Works dyno-tune your car. I haven't done it, but he told me a stock engine with a dyno-tune would gain about 10 hp and some improvement in fuel economy. At around $450, plus travel, you'd have to save quite a few gallons to "pay" for it, though.
Lighter wheels and tires will help, as posted, but you'll have to stay away from summer performance tires because they have a higher rolling resistance (my Goodyears seem to cost me about 1 mpg). Go for a long-wearing, all-season, non-runflat tire.
Realistically, 25 mpg isn't bad if you don't do a lot of freeway driving. The vast majority of my miles are on the freeway and I get about 28 mpg. On a week with bad traffic and no long trips it's down around 26.

Evening all, normally i get around 28 to 30 mpg in mostly freeway driving
but on occasion have been able to ekk a best of 34 mpg, driving like a
old man. using the criuse control as much as traffic demands and just
taking it easy.remember the minute we started the consumption of oil,
we started running out of it
so in the near future the price of fuel
can only go one way

Used to get decent mpg
That was before I was the owner. The previous owner clocked 29 mpg. Since then I've seen it drop to 21.7 with my driving style. I guess it's true that if you want phenomenal mileage some other car would do the trick but what about all the thrills I'd be missing out on.

22-24 mpg with mixed driving. Cold weather and short trips means higher fuel consumption. That said, major contributors are slightly smaller tires (215-45x16) on my 2003. Oh yeah, and a few mods which bring it to 240hp. at the wheels. Credit Jan for most of that.
My highest mileage was a day long highway trip with multiple fill-ups. About 30 mpg a couple of years ago. I just can't avoid the occasional run through the gears.

Quoted for TRUTH. I get at best 25 in my mostly stock '06 MCSa and I've learned to love it because I love the skinny pedal on the right. I think my record low is about 18mpg on a tank.
When not using the crappy conditioned winter fuel we have around here these months, and on a trip not exceeding 65 mph - I can get 34 mpg highway, and at the moment, I am getting an average on the computer of 28+ mpg......that includes warm ups and all cold driving weather.
Could be the following things need attention for better mileage.
Use premium gas and not the stuff from some a Quicky Mart either......I always obtain better fuel mileage buying gas from SHELL or SUNOCO.
Use the Tach for up shifts so as not to over rev.
You mention some maintenance stuff but: How old are the spark plugs ?
How much crap has accumulated in the car/boot/trunk area. Get rid of any stuff not needed.
Besides not having a spare and keeping crap in my boot:
I did a One ball Mod removing the resonator - Lost about 26 lbs there.
Removed my rear wiper and wiper motor assembly - lost another 4 lbs there.
Removed rear boot cover losing another 2 lbs. I fold the back seat down flat.
Removed heavy run flat tires and OEM rims / Added Enkei Perf Rims 16"/tires.
For tire pressure I run at 32-33 lbs. Not sure what you are running but I go 4-5 lbs over recomended - no more.
Good lUck

I avg. 24.7 mpg per tank here in the bay area, a full mix of street and highway, and I shore loves me those tight on / off ramps
. The best I have seen was when I lived and drove in a rural area and averaged 26.7 on a regular basis.
My worst is 6.7 mpg, was at Buttonwillow config 13CW
My EVO weighs 3250lbs without me in it and is about 200whp more than the Mini Cooper. The EVO also has very short gearing. I drive my EVO like a straight jack *** all the time.
So how is that reasonable?
Hi all!! I have had my MINI for about a month now. If I am careful with accelerations and so on I can achieve 24 mpg with city driving. I bought fuel at an Exxon and my mileage improved from 20-21 to the before mentioned 24 and a few times hovered around 24.7 (woo hoo) I can't wait to do some highway driving to see what she does.
this sounds good to me coming from a Pacifica that averaged 14.3 MPG..
Am I correct in thinking that the mileage will improve more during warmer months?

LOL! I managed 9 mpg at BW 13CW, but it was raining so I wasn't on the throttle too hard.
My usual mileage is about 26-27 during my mixed driving commute of 28 miles each way. So much better than what I was getting in my old Audi A8L--16.5 mpg. It's a relative.

The difference between a turbo and a supercharger, the difference in gearing (shorter = more mechanical advantage = easier for the engine), Evo (9 I presume) probably has a slightly low drag coefficient. Just because you drive like a jackass doesnt mean you were flooring it all the time, if you were the Evo should have lower mileage.
